Pretty clever! Unfortunately, I'm looking at a canoe that's around 15 foot or so. Looking for something to bring along camping for my wife, the pup, and myself to get out on the water on. In addition, I have a few local lakes that are a lot better fished from a boat rather than shore!

My MPGs is freaking awful. I am getting around
12-13 mpg. Highway.....I am unsure if it's the extra gear I have ( back seat loaded to the roof with luggage and the bed loaded heavily also) my E rated tires and lift, my prinsu rack with pelican case on top or just all the above affecting it. It's sad really. You have to mash the pedal down to get it to stay up to speed on slight inclines.
It goes like this.. 75mph.. here comes the incline! Downshift to 5th, damn losing speed, at 70mph now, downshift to 4th, shit still barely hanging on!! Shit here come traffic! Downshift to 3rd, RPMs are screaming and finally I can hold my 75mph. All at the same time hearing the wind blowing the truck around lol..... So yeah. I reset my mpg in New Mexico, drove halfway through Texas, 12.6 MPG.... My buds Tundra pulling a 30-40 food Cougar RV gets better MPGs..

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
I'll second this. You can kiss your MPGs good by. Climbing a pass on our last trip with a 15 mph headwind I made a whopping 9.8 MPG at 65 mph... And was passed by an 18 wheeler.:anonymous:

I was hoping the Prinsu would direct air over the RTT but I feel that the tent directs in downwards. I can see the front part of the Softopper being pushed in like wind is going down the front of it..

I'm thinking of picking up a Prinsu and building a ramp on the back of it to push air up and over, but we'll see. This is the minimum height that I can have due to a toolbox in the back. The lid of the box opens with 1" to spare.

Someone on here had a setup where they pitched their solar panel in front of the tent off the prinsu and had said it made a big difference.

Well I'm debating again now. I really want to have the bed be more functional again but there are definite benefits to the current setup. I've definitely already got added weight and the lift is hurting mpg. 15-16 city and highway, I get better mileage through the mountains than on flat land, was pulling 18+ fully loaded in the mountains.
If I go this route I guess I'll just have to pull the tent more often so at least I'm not daily driving with it on all the time.

How much space you have behind the pelican? My setup is similar and for wind noise I've got the front load bar pushed all the way back in the first slot so all my items are mounted back on the rack. If you've got at least one of the load bars free in the back I bet you could rig up a simple airfoil to keep it up, otherwise it sounds like your tent is a sail, and creating down force.

    Day 3

We explored leisurely before heading back to the truck and continuing on our way through the maze of roads that wound up, around, and through the forest - in and out of trees, across wildflower filled meadows, and to several spectacular viewpoints. Even destinationless and meandering, it turned out to be my favorite part of the trip so far.

Check out what we saw and read how our day developed: From City of Rocks to Craters of the Moon

Aerodynamics first and weight second would be my guess. Adding an RTT above the cab turns our trucks’ already brick-like aero into a brick with a parachute

So has anyone gone through Tapui for warranty stuff? Ive gathered some pics from my travels. I didnt get the ruggedized version but I think this is a little unacceptable. I can show glue some of the holes but Inhave to get the gf to sew the zipper edge hole and the cover is for some reason double zippering in a few sections.

Ughhhh that’s gotta be a shifting nightmare then lol
Truck looks good though! I’m very torn between bed rack over softopper or bed rack under softopper to hold RTT. I’ve heard that with the RTT high you can really feel the difference with the weight that much higher.
