I don’t think so. They were always good to respond about issues on here.

It just got to the point where fans of other brands were coming in with memes every time a minor issue got mentioned and the moderators would instigate it instead of settling things down.

 

as a one time potential customer i found the issues and knowledge of GFC's lack of communication helpful and concerning. Had these been silenced it would be a disservice to potential customers.

 

They used to respond to those issues on here all the time until people started trolling and the mods made it worse instead of better.

Not defending their lack of communication I just don’t blame them for not communicating on here anymore and it sucks because now the only place we get any updates is Instagram lol.

 

I agree, silencing critics isn’t the way to go but in typical TW fashion it just got out of hand sometimes in these threads. What makes TW a fun can also make it frustrating to be on at times. I’m guilty of it too, as Jberry pointed out. A simpler forum/thread dedicated to customer questions/problems/solutions directly with the manufacturer could work out well.

 

I don’t think this has come up before in this thread. I have the new tent material, and within a week, I noticed one or two VERY tiny pinholes around the zippered side windows. I was suspecting a few unzipped zipper teeth to be the culprit once they are compressed into the closed tent. Think I’ll try the Tenacious Tape as well.

Overall, I’m very happy with the camper.

 

I also have the pinholes and more. These small holes, over time, will result in the fabric failing in this area. I think that the zippers should have a double layer of cloth backing because they're a stress point. There should also be stitching and they need to find a better glue. I mention the glue because the fabric disks that support the forward bungee are coming loose to the degree that I don't use the bungee anymore. There needs to be more layers of cloth backing the disks because it's a another stress point.

 

What number was yours?
New material? If so they stopped putting the disks that pull the tent material in so I’m told. They didn’t do many and the glue didn’t hold on the new material as well as the OG tent material. Mine come unglued within a few weeks.
I tore them off. Those bungees aren’t needed with that material and 2” mattress anyways.
It’s pretty ugly now but fuck it guess.

 

Anyone know the details about the v3 tent? I ordered a v2 upgrade, but am thinking about just waiting it out until the v3 arrives with the issues that are appearing. I'm curious to what they are changing and why so quickly? It is frustrating to constantly try to play catchup with all these changes.

 

Makes sense. How is your stitching holding up? The stitching holes on my v1 tent where the bungee connects appear to be slowly growing.

 

They're replacing my tent. They mentioned the V3 and I'm willing to wait for that considering summer is coming to a halt soon anyways. My current tent isn't unusable, but definitely showing it's wear. He said V3 is a rip stop fabric. Here's to hoping that there's a lot more stitching.

What exactly is showing it's wear? I'm feeling a little cheated that other v1 tents are being replaced where as I purchased my upgrade. Ugh

 

I broke my zipper for the screen, any time I try to open I have to exit and open and then re-enter. Hard to explain. Also glue is starting to come apart. I would contact Mike about it a little more. He is a lot more responsive and way better customer service than prior employees, that said I wouldn't expect an answer immediately I usually get a response a 1-3 days after I send an email. He said V3 should start production in winter.

Finally had time away from work and a night that wasn’t hell hot to get out and test the MaxxFan Mini for the first time.

Though I still haven’t added any batteries to my setup other than my X2 Power Group 31m 100AH start battery I thought I would give it a try anyways. (Took a jump pack just Incase)

I unplugged the Dometic CFX28 for the night and ran the fan on speed #2 which seemed most comfortable.

It’s amazing! The noise is very much tolerable and the amount of comfort it give us vs. not having it was simply amazing.
We slept with both side windows open, the rear window was half way up. We closed all the side panels and rear doors except we latched the rear of the two side panels while open so it left a crack. (Like Graeme shows in the video about ventilation for a dog.)

The air moving through the 4” gap I chopped in the smaller two mattress panels gave us exactly the right amount of air flow we were hoping for up top.

Everything outside was soaked with dew this morning. (Around 63°F I believe)
Tent was 100% dry inside. No more rain coming from the inside of the roof like we had experienced before.

On another note:
Sioux-Boy didn’t sleep in the bed like we had hoped. He was far too precious last night not to bring up top and snuggle. I buckled under those puppy dog eyes and brought him back on the top bunk.

We camped on a friends very large cow farm in the pasture in rural southern, Ohio. Had s’mores and vodka/lemonade.

EDIT: Didn’t wake up with a dead battery. Still had 12.4v.
Also the girlfriend and I recently ditched using sleeping bags while camping in the GFC. We purchased a 2-person sized Rumpl Blanket and that thing was awesome and a lot more comfortable and easy to pack back up.
