Damn right it is. Found it at ok4wd and wheelers offroad price matched them because I’d rather give them my money. Freaking love wheelers.

So I've got a stupid story for the night. I've been hearing this clank ever since I moved my spare tire to my Front Runner rack. That was almost two years ago and I've spent hours and hours trying to re-enforce my rack. I bought a strap to hold down the tire. I bought extra support legs. I've put homemade supports in....so today I was prepping the truck for my train horn install and I removed the stock spare tire chain.... absolute silence on the way home.

I felt like an idiot for not finding it sooner. I was hearing the noise through the rear window and I just assumed it was the rack....

Those 14mm bolts are a bitch to get to. Require a ratcheting wrench at a minimum, preferably flex head too.

I hate them. That's why I didn't remove it before today.

Don’t hold me to it... but think the ARB only needs a minimum of 70psi. to engage it.

Go real cheap and use one of them small hand held bicycle air pumps and a valve you can close ho hold pressure. Plumb it all and good to go.

Dont mind me... thinking outta my elbow.

I think you’re right. I was gonna say 90 psi, but same difference. Just a small amount of pressure. And once it’s pressurized, that’s it. Doesn’t need a constant flow of air

    Yup!

I kinda think that’s where everybody gets hung up on. Not implying anything (to anyones knowledge)...

just saying if the compressor takes a shit. There is a possible work around for it, if you know what your doing and still need to activate said locker to get you out and home.

That’s a small part of why I went with a mechanical locker. Mainly cost and the fact I could install myself, but I’ve come to find I love the simplicity. No wires, no air lines, no need to remember to turn it on or off, it’s just there when I need it.

Nice plinker choice, seems like a great mod day (distraction) accessory!

So when tool selectionis lacking, bringing suppressed toys insteI'd is the pretty much an accepted substitute/standard, right?!?!

    Damn skippy.

I’m a mechanical dude as well. Not really sure why I bought an Off road with the e-locker. Maybe cause I’m getting old and didn’t feel like screwing with it aftermarket wise. Hell, its a done deal buy.

Will say this though, I do hope taco’s e-lock is not problematic like the jeep version from the factory.

No, I gotta ask... what are you running.... Detroit, OX locker, lunch box?

Lunchbox, powertrax brand. Even made a thread on it because it seemed like there are so few people running one. Now that I’ve had it awhile I don’t think I’d recommend it for people with a manual who daily drive their truck. Just due to the design the backlash makes the driveline clunky. I can live with it, others may not.

Also helped install one in a 2017 4runner.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
one of my friends actually recommended against the air locker from ARB. He told me that he has owned 4 of them in his crawlers (1 front and one in back) and he spent most of his time chasing leaks. He recommended an e locker for the front diff, so i dont know if Im going to go that route long term or if Im just going to run it open. Rarely have I seen a situation where I have said to myself, man, you know what would be great? A front locker right now. Not saying I wont eventually, but it isnt a must have right now, for me anyway.

do the third gens have something similar to Atrac for the front? I love Atrac....its kinda a front locker but way easier to turn in tight spots!
