Another suspension question.

I've been reading threads for a while now on here, but when it comes to lifts, things get a bit overwhelming. I have a 2019 OR and I'm really only looking to add a 1" lift, and keep the same rake. I also plan on keeping the stock tire size, or maybe bump up to 265/75R16.

I'm looking for better off-road performance, and a better ride on-road. I don't want to use blocks, and my total vehicle load won't change much.

There are so many options to go with, and everyone has their own needs. So some suggestions would be appreciated. And no, I'm not buying King's.

 

Bilstein 6112/5160 combo with AAL for the rear. Check out the suspension thread. Lots of information and opinion there. JMO. GL.

 

Bilstein + an AAL will be your best bet

I ended up with a single Deaver AAL and 5100’s- work really well for my setup, on and off road.

 

Ive been doing the same thing for days and getting nowhere. hard to learn about this suspension when I know diddly squat. Then you ask for exactly what I’m interested in BUT say no King. My co worker says Kings are one of the best and what I had in mind. Why no kings? Can someone tell me what Kings to use for what he wants. 1 inch rise, same rake, good on off road. Thanks in advance

 

They're very expensive. If money isn't an issue, I'm sure that would be the way to go.

 

What set up are we talking for 1 inch raise same rake and sweet ride highway and dirt. Will 2 grand do it.

Keep in mind that the Deavers will settle a bit, so the true height will be around 1.5” in back. This setup gives me good handling on and off road, and the 5100’s are good at not overheating on long washboards on hot days (reservoir shocks are better at it for fast offroad driving), but that’s not my style.

I dived into a gutter on both and could definitely feel how much better the pro did on the fox’s. So I’m the kind of guy who usually goes or wants the best. What Kings set up should I get for a 1 inch raise same rake. That would feel like a Cadillac.

 

could you just use the stock coils on these struts? whats the advantage of buying OME coils? performance?

 

Some people say that your front will dive when you stop fast if using the stock coils, but I have not found that on streets nor even when driving off road with a RTT on the cab in a full load of gear in the back.

I’m using the stock coils also. The OME Coils will provide about an inch more lift without setting the rings higher on the 5100s, and can handle more load than the stock coils which is useful if you have a steel plate bumper and winch in front, if not, the stock ones are fine and you don’t need the OME’s. But you will have to set the rings on the 5100s to get your lift instead. For a one and a half inch lift, I set my rings up to the third notch. For a 1-inch lift, you may want to set it on the second notch.

 

Sounds like you should just get a Pro, but if not, call Headstrong about it- they also sell Kings and Fox.

 

Eibach and Icon 3-AAL owner over here. ~2in depending on applications and I enjoy them for the money.

 

Thank you very much for the suggestion. A pro would cost at least 5-6 k more, cant I just spend approx 2 grand more for a pro ride quality. Or do tires have a big say also.
I’m a plumber and know how to push poop but nothing about suspension, I’m trying to learn, I’ve done several searches here and I hear things like spacers, blocks, leafs sway bars. ( any thread suggestions would be greatly appreciated)
While on the subject of suspensions my last two vehicle purchases I’ve had to add leafs to handle the weight the Truck says it can handle. My last purchase is a 550 Ford and 900 and some dollars more got it to ride like a dream with all the weight I have in it. There is an option to get an or taco to a more satisfying ride, I mean if they can put a man on the moon,,,

 

Hey, sorry if you misunderstood my suggestion. To save money, definitely build it yourself. Really though, as I suggested, ask Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road about the options on it. They really helped me out when I told her my budget and what I expected for my suspension setup.

I only said to get a Pro as you mentioned that you tended to go for and wanting the best, so I thought money was not an important part of it for you...

 

Buy once, cry once, if you can. Do I wish I went with Kings?... not yet but as I off-road more aggressively I may want a more refined ride. Also in the long run I will need a new spring pack before I need new shocks/coils FYI (Added ~150lbs to the bed).

Is there a good thread that comes up to anyone’s mind that could give me a good start on learning about the suspension in the Tacoma and how to better it.
