that is the best looking modded grille and chrome mirrors I have seen in a long time
what happened to the center cap?

 

were the chrome mirrors available other than sr5?

 

Plus the SR5 badges which I assume someone stole off the truck along time ago. To be fair, I would have removed the stripes the day I bought it even back in the 90s. The trim was an impulse, I like simplicity. I don’t need anyone but me (and TW) to know that it’s a unicorn.

I do have the trim, curious to see what it’s worth actually.

I lost 1 center cap while off-roading a while back and took off the other 3 to match hahaha

 

how come the 98s and up got those between the windows? i mean near the rear right up there you know where its at

 

Was just googling around and you’re right. For some reason I always assumed there was because it looks like the PO had a sticker there based on the finish of the paint. Kinda that post sticker residue just on the pillar right where that badge would sit.

 

i still don't know exactly what the '96 SR5s look like
does anybody have one that has not ever been altered?

 

ok so that is very similar to the 95.5 and not to my 97
as far as the design on the side

 

Good to know! I’ll keep the trim & and clips around. It looks so much cleaner without....

No shame in removing that giant purple side stripe. Probably would have been alright to keep the tailgate SR5 badges but my pressure washer trigger finger disagreed.

After 20 years that stuff chips off like nothing. Surprisingly no fading anywhere from the stickers

Edit: I take it back, the tailgate you can barely notice, sides not at all.

the 97 5lug have different front end?

 

WE ARE DISCUSSING OUR early 1st gen TACOMAs HERE today not hijacking lol

 

maybe someday you can get to see it up close I can make it down i35 to Mexico border in a little over a day with one stop
drove 16 hours non-stop last week from lake superior in Michigan

 

thanks for the heads up about the pressure washer on the side

i will only hand wash it so the decals don't come off

 

Get rid of the grill guard, decals, running boards and trim. Do all that and it might look decent...

 

i am surprised you also didn't say to git rid of the chrome mirrors as well lol
