How to get more lift?

I have adjustable bilstein 5100’s set at the highest setting (2.5”), what would be the best way to get even more lift without buying new shocks?

 

Body lift, top shock spacer lift, or ideally OME 3" coils.

 

Bigger (taller) tires

 

I’m looking at eibach 3” lift coils. Do you know how much lift id get with those and 5100 shocks set to 2.5?

That would ride like you had solid steel rods for shocks. But probably in the neighborhood of 5"+

Dont lift a taco over 2.5"-3" without a drop bracket. Bad things happen after that point.

 

You get a totaled truck when the shock explodes from to much force

 

1/2" from spacer would get you an extra 3/4" of lift up front and then you could do an adjustable lift shackle in the rear. How much more lift are you trying to acheive?

 

Anything more than 2" of suspension lift and you're going to need upper control arms.

Please do not use spacers to stack with your suspension lift.

From there you're left with a body lift; do that if you want the "look" otherwise as far as off-roading goes, 2-3" works best.

What coils can I get to achieve a full 3” lift? Was going to aim for 4” but sounds like I just need to settle for 3”.

 

The Toytec Boss coilovers are fair priced and are adjustable “up to” 3 inches of lift. Old Man Emu offers a coil over shock set up (883 springs) that also get three inches over stock but will likely be a harsher ride. Those are just a couple options; I’m sure there’s more out there.

 

I’m new to all of this stuff sorry if I sound like a da so if I had a 1” lift coil on my 2.5” 5100 it would set it at 3.5” of lift? Sorry I’m just trying to understand how this works

Not quite. The lift comes from the coil spring not the shock. When/if you see a 2.5 inch “lift shock”, that just means it’s long enough and has enough travel to accompany 2.5 inches of lift.

 

There is no 2.5” stock height. “Stock height” is the base line so try to think of that as 0. A 2.5” coilover means you’ll get 2.5 inches of lift over stock height. Or a 3” coil will get you 3 inches over stock height. So getting a 3” coilover will only get you an additional 0.5” lift over what you currently have.

 

That’s what I thought, So why am I hearing a 3” coil will blow my shocks up?

 

Also, you have to take your weight into consideration, or at least be aware of it, when buying suspension lift components. So if you have a V8 swap, heavy front bumper, winch, and a dual battery set up, you’re achieved lift is going to be different from what is advertised.
