Wet Okole Seat cover liability.........

So i really want and need some new wet okole seat covers for my 2010. I do have side airbags in the seat, but i have a few concerns. I want to order the covers without the ugly slit in the side, but I am worrried about the liability. I talked to professionals and one said the airbag would punch right through and the other said it wouldn't. So I need your opinions. Thanks

 

i believe they have a good reason for putting the slit in the sides, so I would get them

The slit doesn't bother me at all. I'd just be safe and get it.

 

Get the gosh darn slits man ...... when fitted properly the "slits" are not seen, as the sides overlap one another. There is no way that the bags would burst through .... these things are bullet proof.

I had the same concern when I got the Toyota TRD covers. I went ahead and got them... looks like the majority of the seat sides are still exposed so I'm not too worried about it. I'm not sure exactly how the Wet Okole's are put together, but on mine if I wanted to I could cut the stiching in a few areas just enough for the cover to still hold together but would come apart if the bags were deployed. If your really concerned with a liabilitly issue you might want to play it safe and get the right ones though.

How hard are they to install. Yea I have basic tools and knowledge, but I am only 18.

 

You can't even tell the slits are there. As far as install, simple. Best thing to do is pull the seats though, it will make it a ton easier on you. One hour tops if you pull the seats out...

 

See well it seems that in general the ones without the slit fit better. I was just wondering. But I do see where your coming from, there is a purpose for the slit. Maybe I will get some small patches of velcro and stich them in there

 

I wouldn't want to take the change of somone getting hurt or killed in my truck because of something so trivial as how my seat covers look.

 

The slits aren't even that noticable. I wouldn't worry too much about them at all look wise. Get the slits

 

To OP .... this should be an non-issue brother ..... take a 2nd look at pictures posted ... including mine.

Do you think that if the airbag would deploy through the seat side WO would go to the trouble of making the slit.

^ What he said. I just had my Wet Okole's installed last week with the airbag slits and it looks perfectly fine. You and your passenger's safety is definitely more important than worrying about a small slit in your seatcover...

I have a 2010 DC Pre-Runner - took it to the Wet Okole shop in Costa Mesa, Ca. They told me if the truck has seat side air bags, they have to do the slit. Something about a permit. I guess you could get around it if you wanted to, but why. I couldnt even tell there was a slit there - they fit like a glove. - Man, they are the best! A little on the pricey side, but for the durability and looks - it is worth the investment. I got the center console cover as well. Love them - get compliments all the time - Black with charcoal, no piping. with the white TRD and red lettering. I looked at the dealership TRD covers - not even a close second.
