    Yep, worked for me. Every truck might be a bit different and can also depend on alignment, etc.

    I've been searching through this thread for a few days now. Lots of great info. I think I'm sold on this tire size for my future build. It seems the consensus that ideal wheel size and spacing for 16" would be 16x8 0 offset 4.5 backspace?

    not necessarily.....a ton of people on here are running the 3rd Gen OR and Pro rims...

    I'm personally running the OEM Pro rims on my 2017 Pro and it's perfect.

    Your best bet is to see if anybody else on here is running the exact rim you're looking at.....a 0mm offset wheel will be closer to farther from the center of the truck, and couple that with an 8" width it'll push the wheel a 1/2" in both directions, so I'm not sure if that'll work or not. It's pretty close as-is with the OR and Pro rims

    edit: I'm sure somebody has to have tried 16x8 0mm offset 4.5 backspace, so worth doing your homework to double check...

    I have 255/85r16 on 16"x8" 0 offset. Perfect fit. Zero rubbing off road. I removed the mud flaps long ago however.

    BFG KM2 255/85r16 Bilstein 5100s OME 888, HD Dakar’s, JBA control arms, BAMF Shackle hangers and shackle.
    I am running method NVs 0 offset and 4.5 backspacing with 255/85r16 KM2 tires. It will not being your wheels closer to center like the previous post is telling you. No offense to doublethebass. A zero offset will take you farther from center of vehicle and push the tires out. There are offset calculators out there some being better then others. Best ones allow you to compare between stock and what your thinking about doing.
    I have not had issues with proper alignment. I did however take the sway bar off last year for some wheeling trips and the top of the tire would run on the top of the fender sometimes under compression of the suspension. Easy fix bump stops just needed a spacer. I do rub a little but only when it’s really getting flexed.
    I like 16x8 0 offset 4.5 backspace as it doesn’t have a ton of wheel pole that sprays rocks dirt grime all over the truck when you blast down dirt roads. I can add some pics later when I get out of work

    Haha, it's all good i've fitted so many different vehicles with aftermarket wheels and i still have to go back to the calculator to re understand it each time.

    anyone running the 4runner TRD Pro or FN FX Pro wheels with a 255/80/r17 on a 3rd gen Taco? thinking either Toyo Open Country ATII or ST Maxx

    or anyone running FN FX Pro 255/85/r16's ?

    I'm in the club now. I wore out a set of 235/85r16 Cooper ST Maxx's and just got Yokohama Geolandar M/T's newly minted in 255/85r16.

    Thanks so much! I have SPC UCA’s, OME 880 coils and a Wheeler’s Off Road 3/8 spacer on the driver’s side to correct taco lean.

    I also got a custom alignment maxing out the caster on the LCA’s, which moves the front tires forward. The 255s don’t contact the wheel wells or cab anywhere but will rub the frame with the steering wheel at full lock.

    I expected that because my 235s did the same thing. But it’s no biggie because even without going full lock, regular cabs still have a tight turning circle.

    I’m at approximately 2.25” of lift with JBA upper control arms and nothing to the body. I’m good for no rubbing with the 16” TRD pro wheels.

    So I’ve just started on my wheels and suspension and I’m not really sure what I need to do to clear 255/85R16s. I’m currently at stock suspension and running stock 235s on my 2000. Thanks guys.

    You probably just need a bit of lift in the 1.75"-2.25" range and avoid OEM wheels from newer gens. 1st gen Taco, 1st gen Tundra and 3rd gen 4Runner OEM wheels have about 4.5" of backspacing and they're all 16X7", perfect for skinny tires. Newer than that, they have 5.25" of backspacing which puts them almost 3/4" closer to the frame.

    On 1st gens the cab mounts are farther back and the wheel wells are the correct shape (round), so 255/85r16's are less likely to contact the mud flaps, pinch welds, fender lips or inner wheel wells. But they will still likely rub the frame behind the front tire with the steering wheel at full lock. Wheel spacers could correct that, but then they would increase the odds of the tires rubbing somewhere else.

    The other thing that's helpful is SPC upper control arms, which have much greater adjustability than stock. My front bumper is completely open in front and there's almost nothing there for the tires to contact. Because of that, I was able to have an alignment shop crank the rear adjusters out and the front adjusters in on my lower control arms, moving the front wheels forward in the wheel wells. Then a good alignment can still be achieved using the adjustments on the SPC upper control arms. The national tire and alignment shops usually won't deviate from factory alignment specifications. I found a locally-owned alignment shop that specializes in motorsports and they knew exactly what to do.
