I like the Hilux interior much better than the Tacoma. I may be in the minority, but the Hilux exterior looks good.

Is it me or does the Hilux frame appear to be fully boxed?

So what makes theTacoma a better "truck" than the Hilux?....besides the fact that a lot of people seem to bash the Hilux aesthetics, it seems like it's every bit as capable and possibly more durable.

Personally, I believe the Hilux is more capable and durable. Tacoma is prettier. Overall, both are solid rigs.

North America associates trucks to image and luxury.

The rest of the world associates trucks to work and utility.

I love hilux, but they are ugly and the interior is miles apart from the Tacoma 3rd gen.

The only number most people need to know is 9.5. That’s the 0-60 time for the HiLux.

I think if you tow a lot a diesel HiLux might be desirable, otherwise, most people would prefer a Tacoma.

I think the HiLux interior and exterior to some extent look more “contemporary”, and I imagine the new Tacoma will trend somewhat in that direction, at least interior-wise.

I like the Hilux's front end. When I bought my 18 Tacoma, I immediately thought of how puffed out the front end looked - there is a shit ton of empty space both in front and from the top of the hood to the actual motor...I can live with it but seems unnecessary. I'd prefer a lower hood line, which the Hilux has - better viability...and that doesn't change any of it's off road abilities. My 09's front end was way nicer than my 18's. When I look at pictures of both the the 18 looks like they went up and out at the front end for no other reason than to 'look' like it's a bigger truck - no likey.

I'd like to see Lexus market the Hilux in the states. Just to see how many sell, and how many end up being modified for off road use. The GX has become very popular. I'd be surprised if the Hilux, didn't become the must have 4x4 in the segment, if it was available.

I know it won't happen, because Toyota knows they would sell more Hiluxs than Tacomas.

That's so ugly, it looks like a ridgeline. I know they're more capable but....fugly

I thought the Hilux looks like something VW would put out, then I saw the VW truck.

The exterior styling is similar to a North America Ford Ranger.

Yeah, it's ugly but if they made the RV in the US, I'd buy the shit out of it. Dependability is critical!

The composite bed is much stronger than the steel bed. They put the cheap-ass steel bed in Hilux to keep cost down as it is basically a jobber type truck.

Got to drive the 2.4 and the 2.8. It is great had the manual. Taught some younger guys how to actually drive a manual.I think people forget that where these vehicles are used many people treat it as a work necessity. Because it is. Loading it down driving down roads most people on here would have a shit fit of you didnt air down and have upgraded suspension parts and all sorts of other bullshit.
