I'm thinking of trying to get a group site at Boulder Lake campgrounds. I haven't made any reservations.

I'm open to suggestions as long as they're within a reasonable distance from the trails

Trails are located in this area:

    45°19'52.5"N 88°18'26.2"W
Caldron Falls Rd, Crivitz, WI 54114

I have a feeling camping spots will all but be impossible to book for that weekend at this point.

Damn it, man! Gotta pass on this one too. We just had our offer accepted on a new house. Everything should pan out to Sept. being
a very busy moving month, and we'll be prepping our existing house for sale. Thanks though, and keep the invites coming, we should be able to jump
    on one of them soon.

    Cool!

I'm hoping to get in touch with the park department soon and figure out what the deal is with reserving campgrounds after labor day.

They're either non-reservable/first come first serve, or there's no access to bring vehicles in. If it's the latter, I would try to find other options for lodging.

I was trying to avoid the holiday weekend due to the crowds. As mentioned, reservations would probably be out of the question by now.

I just checked, and there is only one site available for labor day weekend.

It looks like the sites are all walk up after that, which seems to mean first come first serve. I could potentially get up there a day earlier than everyone else and make sure we get a spot.

It will also come down to how many people end up going. As soon as we settle on dates, we can try to get a role call of how many people will plan on joining. Then we can decide whether to get a group site, or several regular sites.

Or, if it just a few people, maybe the site I found last year.

Usually after Labor Day, the camping crowd is usually pretty thin. Out in Colorado the second week of September we could goto any campground we wanted and have almost any spot we wanted. There was like 2 other people there. Prior to Labor Day everything is a zoo with the back to school vacations and fair weather campers.

I prefer late season when it’s cold and no one else is out.

Yeah, the cooler weather was also part of my decision.

    Usually sometime in November.

September weather can vary greatly. I'm hoping for weather in the 60-70° range. I don't want cold weather, but also don't prefer muggy August weather. At least, not for this type of trip.
