I was doing so tree shade mechanic work today when my eyes were drawn to my UCAs. I have Camburg moog joint UCAs. I have been greasing the Moog joint but not the polyurethane bushings where the UCA attaches to the truck frame.

I have 4300 miles on these UCAs. How much longer do you think I should go to grease those bushings? I was thinking a few thousand miles but thought I would seek the collective wisdom on this.

I have a fuzzy memory of the install, but I assume I should be using this stuff to grease the bushings?:

Finally, I haven't done this since...well, ever. I assume I loosen the bolt holding the UCA to the frame and then just pump grease in the zerks until it purges? Thanks.

You need a silicone/synthetic based grease with PTFE for poly bushings.
SuperLube is the most commonly available; Harbor Freight carries it.
You are correct on the procedure.

Thanks! How often do you do it? I assume at 4300 miles I am still OK?

I do mine every 5k and after heavy off-roading. About 5-10 pumps and use NGLI #2 multi-purpose grease.

    I don't; I'm still on stock UCAs.
I used to do them every 5,000 on my 2nd Gen with TC UCAs.

I just played around with it and can barely move the wrenches. Do you jack it up and or remove the wheel and tire? I generally don't like wrenching hard while it is jacked up but I am wondering if I am going to have to do so.

Also, what do you torque to?
    Thanks.

@AgingDisgracefully Since you need to loosen the upper arm bolt at the frame, re-torque the frame bolt to 85-90 ft/lbs. Make sure to put some fresh red or green loctite on the nut. After a few times loosening it over time, replace the nut since its a nylock. The nylon loses it's grip. As far as grease for the bushings go if you use the grease we supply and sell in tube form, you don't have to grease them all that often. Couple times a year. If you use Superlube or others, you'll need to grease them a little more frequently since those greases are thinner and don't handle the heat as well. If you don't see the grease on the bushings, they look dry or are squeaking, then it's time to lube them. Don't need to be too concerned about how many miles, intervals, etc. Just lube them when needed, it varies from customer to customer, region to region.
