I'm not saying what you're doing is illegal or anything where you are, but out West we stay on the main roads because it's the law in most of our national forests. Getting off in the bush like that is a good way to earn yourself a ticket and get areas closed in states like CO and MT.

That may be right in your area, but I know from experience that up here where I am anyway, many if not most roads like that are forest service roads, whether they are maintained or not. Areas that are restricted are usually well marked and not as highly traveled as that one appears to be...

This is private property. Our club has 163 acres of private property to off-road and we are a State Non-Profit. We have gatherings to raise money for Toys for tots, local police depts, fire depts and food shelters/panties. Here is just a few articles about the club:
    The Tribune-Democrat

Club raising funds for toy drive, firefighters
The Windber-based Big Rubbers Custom 4x4 Club Inc. will hold a Toys for Tots trail ride between Windber and Central City on Saturday.
The ride is open to all types of all-terrian and similar vehicles, said Douglas “Bear” Updyke, public relations coordinator.
    Registration will begin at
8 a.m. at the Doe Valley Club’s headquarters in Windber, with the ride beginning from there at 11 a.m.
Participants must contribute a toy worth $20 or more or $20 in cash.
More information is available at www.bigrubbers4x4.org.
Also on Saturday, the club will hold a raffle to benefit the West Taylor Township Volunteer Fire Department’s generator fund.
Items related to 4x4 vehicles will be raffled off, Updyke said.
There also will be door prizes.

    The Tribune-Democrat

Club donates generators to fire company
The ATV riders organization Big Rubbers Custom 4x4 Club Inc. donated two 3,500-watt generators Thursday to West Taylor Volunteer Fire Company.
Group co-founder Doug Updyke said money was raised through fall and spring raffles and a trail ride.
“We’re a family-based 4x4 club,” Updyke said. “Our motto is ‘wheeling with a purpose.’ We look for opportunities to raise funds for charities such as this.”
He said the fire company approached his Windber-based group last fall and expressed a need for a new generator.

    The Tribune-Democrat

    Vehicle show to benefit charities

The Windber-based Big Rubbers Custom 4x4 Club will host a Show-n-Shine event Saturday near Ashley Furniture next to The Galleria.
Although this is a 4x4 club, the show is open to all types of vehicles, from motorcycles to hot rods to “tuner” cars.
The event will include food vendors, displays from local auto dealerships, a raffle and more. A rib cook-off also is planned.
Three local charities will benefit from the fundraising effort: The Windber police toy fund for underprivileged children, Windber Food Pantry turkey drive and West Taylor Township Volunteer Fire Department, which will receive a 5,000-watt generator.
For more information, go to bigrubbers4x4.org.

NAYo2002, I apologize for changing your thread to my personal thread.
I took a little offense to MountainEarth 's comments and I should not have. I just don't want people getting the wrong idea about my local club. We do a lot of good and help a lot of people.
