One of my wife's cats headbutts things so hard I get genuinely concerned he might hurt himself...he seriously makes the wooden dining room chairs scoot a few inches across the floor when he headbutts them, and they aren't light. Either his head is thick as concrete or he's just tallying up concussions for fun...I can't quite figure it out

Oh no that's the other one, lol. Mojito is the pisser, Mai Thai is the bull that likes to ram things.

Nope never. Only once we moved into this house a couple years ago.

He's a very anxious cat and it's gotten moreso with his older age, so that probably has something to do with it coupled with him being moved into a new home, after he lived in the last one his whole life.

Try pinning the curtains higher than his butt, make them shorter if you can. Could it be something on the wall behind the curtains. Previous tenant/owner have pets in the place before you?

Oh believe me we've tried that, he just pees on the wall haha. It's not just the curtains he pees on, he'll pee near almost any window in the living room or dining room, he's peed on our liquor shelf, peed on our table, he'll even pee on my gym bag if I leave it out. It was really bad when we first moved here, but in the last several months it's become more of a once or twice a week thing, rather than virtually every day.

It's weird because it's not a 'spray' because he's neutered...but he treats it like a spray. He backs up against the curtain or window and shakes his tail violently and shoots out piss that gets fanned everywhere lol. Believe me when it was bad I was on the verge of throwing him outside, not proud to say it but man it was so frustrating dealing with a house that reeked of cat pee all the time. It's an extremely difficult smell to get rid of. We tried everything to get him to stop.

One vet even said he might be diabetic (based on a few other symptoms) so I was giving him insulin shots twice a day for about a year, but that didn't change anything. I honestly think it was just a nervous habit he's had a hard time getting rid of and it's finally started to get better. Fingers crossed anyhow

He's really adorable and a lovebug when he's not peeing on everything, so that's his saving grace

When did he get neutered? Sometimes if done later in their life they retain that cat trait.
I had one that ruined $1000.00 in furniture in one afternoon.

She had him neutered at the normal age, he was rescued at 4 weeks which is normally too soon to adopt a kitten but since his mom was killed and he was feral there wasn't really another option.

Her other cat Mai Thai was also a feral rescue, but he was a few months old when she found him and he's never really gotten out of that feral mindset. He's constantly on high alert and thinks everything is a threat lol. And he's been living indoors for 6 years now. But he doesn't do any spraying at all.

He didn't get neutered until he was older and looks like he has balls the size of large grapes, it's really weird lol. Apparently when male cats get neutered when they're older they retain a large...coin purse, shall we say.

Captain Fluffy butt is the same way with thinking everything is a threat. If the doorbell rings, he high tails it to the bedroom like a army crawl, but lightning fast. One of the craziest things I have ever seen.

Yeah it's that feral instinct I think...there's a hard limit to how much time they can spend on the streets to where they can't unlearn that survival behavior. At 4 weeks, Mo didn't really soak much of it up. But Mai Thai having been several months old and living on the streets...he's forever looking over his shoulder lol
