I had the 4300k bulbs at first and I ended up going with the 5000k bulbs. The 4300k bulbs are more of a yellow stock color, if you want something to match the DRLs(if you have) the 5000K bulbs will be better for that. Plus, my 4300k had a terrible shake/flutter because of how intense the hot spot on them was. My 5000k bulbs have it still, just not as bad.

If I could do it again, I would not have spent the money oh the Phillips bulbs. Just my 2 cents.

Sarcasm aside, H9 fogs are halogen. It’s crazy how running the right lights in the right housings work, right? Sort of like how Tacoma housings are halogen projectors, not LED or HID projectors.

    Sarcasm ain’t your thing.

HID’s outperform any halogen bulb on the market in the stock Tacoma housings:oops:

No kidding.. who’d have thought putting a high intensity diode in a halogen projector would be brighter than a halogen bulb?

OP - Go read the lighting thread by @crashnburn80 for information about the stock projectors. You’ll get better output from HIDs, but the projectors are flat out not made to run HIDs. It’s not a debate. If you want to run them and potentially blind anyone in front of you, that’s on you and then between you and a safety inspector if your state does that thing.

Read the thread countless times over. I understand they aren't made to run HID's stock from the factory, but the cutoff dissipates any potential blinding on the road.
Preach to the choir man, thousands of people on tacomaworld have HID's

Simple fact is your oem projectors have squirrel spotters. Running hids increase the brightness of those and they are above the cutoff. Sometimes preaching to the choir is necessary cause even they can lose their way.

    But the cutoff!

Just because there’s a ton of people running the wrong bulbs in a ‘good enough’ projector doesn’t mean I’ll quit telling people to quit doing it. It’s not street legal, and it’s rude as hell to everyone else on the road.

Yea but my hids in oem projectors don’t blind me so they must be fine. :sarcasm

At least they’re the highest output lights on the market.

Oh no I appreciate it because I asked for opinions in the first place. Didn't think you would keep jerking it off though. Thanks though

    A few LEDs for now....
    I installed these last week.
    https://hidkitpros.com/shop/2016-2017-toyota-tacoma-hylux-hid-kit/
    I also got:
Morimoto HD Relay Harness — optional
Optional: Harness which powers HIDs directly from the battery, instead of factory wires. Recommended for best reliability.

Like another post stated the ballast are easy, use gorilla double side tape. Everything else is 100% plug and play using zip ties. HID KIT PROS customer service/tech support was very good. They include an extra pig tail that your supposed to use if needed. I had to use that cable and everything works good.

Took two evenings after work to complete. If I did it again could do in half the time.

Can post pics if anyone is interested. I would highly recommend the these lights and the hardest part is figuring out the install since it’s mad to fit a wide variety of vehicles. The bulbs have two sets of connections and you cut one off depending on your vehicle. It all makes sense, but was a little confusing at the time.

No errors and bright white light.

Do you mind posting your pics on how you installed both the ballasts and harness?
I’m looking at getting the TRS Morimoto HID kit and have seen multiple posts on guys fabricating metal sheets to hold the harnesses and ballasts and I think I’m just gonna use heavy duty Velcro for everything considering I don’t want to drill anything

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
Not Tacoma but same idea and still Toyotas. I have the Xenon Depot H11 HID kit with Philips bulbs in my 4Runner and a Morimoto H11 HID kit in my FRS.

Both are huge improvement over stock. Both have good cutoff in stock projectors.

Make sure the headlights are aimed properly. If your truck is lifted, it's likely lights are no longer aimed to SAE/DOT spec. I had to aim 4Runner lights down a bit.

If you tow or have cargo that makes the back end sag, you will blind oncoming traffic much worse than basic halogens. :anonymous:

The Morimoto seems better put together just looking at little details but both kits work great so far.

On both kits, i used the relay harness and connected straight to battery. Both pos and negative terminals. Tried grounding elsewhere for convenience and had a light sometimes not fire right away. No issues after ground on battery.
