Congratulations and welcome to the money pit. 5100 is the normal unless you have King money. Spring weight and length will depend what you want to do and spend. Nothing wrong with an AAL in the rear as well.

Don't be afraid to ask questions or for help. Don't pay to have it done when so many people are willing to help for beer and pizza or just to wrench on a new truck

cool, new to trucks and suspensions in general. been doing a lot of reading across forums the last month or so.

my goals are to have a truck with good clearance to hit some trails (no crazy overlanding) and the beach. would an AAL or leaf pack be required for a bed rack and RTT?

i appreciate the offers, i may need to take some of you up on them later when i get around to buying parts

Depends on what you load on the racks but for a RTT id definitely suggest N AAL at minimum, full leaf pack replacement would be even better though.

I was gonna suggest the same. Take a peek at dakars. I’d recommend the HD, as they can handle the weight and won’t break the bank.

X2 on Dakars that’s what I’m running. Handled the weight of an RTT full tool box and a weekends worth of gear and supplies like it was nothing

Haha that’s awesome. Yeah now that I have the truck back in one piece, I’m daily driving it to break in these new gears.

been looking into the headstrong lift kit (5100s, 887s, AAL/full leaf pack, spacer)

    1. how do I ensure that what i buy doesnt create the bro lean?
    2. is the drivers side lean really that common?

i've heard that 5100s and 887 create ~2" lift. although i would love to add a full leaf pack, i'm not quite sure it's worth the money for what i want to do with the truck

does anyone have any experience with the hobby shop on base at oceana? i'd love to try and do this myself at some point

Can do that in a driveway TBH. I can get a meet together 17 or 24 August for those that have projects piling up.

What is your plan for the truck? We can definitely do all that Inna driveway if the 887s are mounted up. Call Headstrong and talk to them. They are very informative on what they sell. Screenshot_20190628-191612.jpg

Where's that? I was just fishing last week but I rent a boat from Waller Mill in Williamsburg. I have a canoe that hasn't seen water in a while.

Just kayak around, it's not really set up to fish at all. I have a couple cheap ass walmart poles I've never used though. I do want to add a trolling motor though so I can be lazy.
