i just had an ARE CX HD shell put on my truck but can’t figure out how to open the little sliding window between the cab and shell. The is a handle but don’t see a lock. When I try to slide open no go so what am I missing?

Is there a rod in the track?

If it's like mine (ARE CX) it should just slide. There is a plastic knob/disk/whatever you want to call it for you to push/pull against as you move it to the side. There is no lock. It can be difficult to move, especially if it's sat for a while, has crap in the channel or the felt slider is getting old and dry. I usually have to kind of wiggle it up and down a bit while sliding. It was easier to slide when new but my shells has been on since '06 now so it's kinda nasty. I really need to pull the shell and scrub it and the cab.

There is a lube made for window channels that you could try but I have zero experience with it, just seen it in the auto parts store.

    ETA:
I uploaded a picture, hopefully it shows up. You can see the knob thing on the bottom right of the slider window. There is a notch or detente in the track under the knob that it rest in when closed- you can kind of make out in this crappy picture. Ignore how nasty that pine pollen looks.

Thank you I was thinking I just need to put some muscle into it but not knowing otherwise I did not want to chance breaking it if there was something else that needed to be done.

Next time I am out with the truck I will see if I can wiggle it and open.

See my edit- does yours have the plastic piece under the knob thing?

No mine just has a handle on the left side in the middle. Seems if new it should slide easily unless locked somehow but I don’t see a lock.

I will see if I can wiggle a little and if not call the installer to see what the problem might be.

    Thanks

You were right I moved around a little and it slid right open.

Guess I was expecting something a little more fancy with a lock.

    Thanks for the help.

Yep, when I got mine I was expecting something like the latch on the truck's rear window. At least on mine, the window can be pulled slightly further closed than it needs to be as well and will leave a tiny gap on the other side. When the knob drops into that clip thing I know it's centered. Never had a leak so I guess it's good enough.

I had similar trouble with the fold down rear window. Could not for the life of me figure it out! Had to go back I felt like a dummy. Haha glad you figured it out OP.

The front slider on my Leer just slides (no lock) but it does take a good push to move it.
