Yep, my brother and I used to hike up to a cold spring in the Sierras, great tasting water.

Then the last time up we realized it wasn't the source.

    A week of Guardia.

    Ah memories.

    Good times, good times.

not tht urgent but you got the idea.

the construction zone was BS. They're replacing a water main that runs across the highway so its one lane with flaggers at either end. Southbound was backed up with over 100 cars I'm guessing. Northbound had almost zero traffic. But instead of letting 30 or 40 of us SB people through at a time they would only let max 10 through. Whoever was going NB got through every time, no wait. Guess they don't pay them to think.
Second construction zone was for chip sealing. Pilot cars through 15 miles of it since no one pays attention to the reduced speed signs they had to have a couple dozen people ferrying us through

:smack: chasing them stresses them out! Given as hot as it has been everywhere he was probably near exhaustion. :smack:

its not the tourists. Glacier is by far the trashiest park I have been too and while the visitors dont help matters any and there are a few who dont clean up after themselves the bulk of the trash comes from locals. lots of places on the east side that are way out in the boonies with no curb side pick up. people are too lazy to take their trash to the central dumpsters so they just throw it out along the highway. whole bags of household trash. diapers, beers cans, appliances, furniture, you name it i could probably find it along hte roadside up there.

Visitors are fine. 90% of them leave it better than they found it. The other 10% I refer to as "shit flinging monkeys". Those are the one's you probably don't want to be associated with.

tent is dried (it rained for 3 hours solid last night) and put away. Runner got a bath. Gonna get another one tomorrow as I noticed a ton of tar spatter all over him, some tree sap too. Might have to swing by Costco and get the industrial sized barrel of goo gone to get it all off.

Wow that looks a lot like what I keep in the Taco. Good idea on the solid state battery jump pack :D

I keep my wool blanket in a zipper plastic case that some sheets came in a few years ago. Right now it is in the garage for that 6 weeks of piss poor sledding.

You mean Giardia? Beaver Fever? Damn beavers are a nuisance in more ways than one.

Was a lot less of them around here back when a #1 blanket pelt brought about $75.

Mn. might be called the land of 10,000 lakes but there are more than 15,000 lakes. Not counting beaver ponds. I carry my own water. And 2 rolls of mountain money and a roll of paper towels in the Taco. Because once you've had beaver fever you realize there is never too much TP on board.

Finally made reservations for grouse hunting in a cabin for couple of weeks in October. Wedged in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on some private land.

No cell phone reception. No internet. But it does have a High Def TV, a glass door wood stove.

Nope, bears or deer pooping in the water I would guess. No beaver up that high, up above Donner Lake

I miss this stuff from my industrial maintenance days. Machine failures in a industrial setting can be spectacular in a perverted way. It can be really messy too, we dumped 500+ gallons on hydraulic fluid out a broken pipe before somebody could get to a shut off valve. All valves were moved down to chest high after that. (Centralized system was run up in the rafters)
