I have 2 kids as well. I installed a Bass control knob so I can turn it down if kids are in the back and turn it up when I'm alone (or just with the wife).

Wait what? How can you go behind the speakers to get the nut to screw into a bolt? Im talking about the brackets that comes with the Kickers. Some people are having problems aligning the bracket with the actual holes from the door and some even drilling them to fit. I believe they are buying the metra brackets (pic below) it has extra holes for a perfect fit. Not sure why cruchfield supplies brackets that don't fit.

When mounting the actual speaker to the adapter, 3 screws will go in normally while the last one will have to go in at a very slight angle. However once the speaker and adapter are together, the outer holes of the bracket will line up fine to the holes in the door.

Crutchfiled supplies the same metra brackets you posted along with metra plug and play wire adapters.

THIS. I just got my order from crutchfield, and didn't have any hardware to mount the speakers to the metra adapter brackets. I just went out to the shop in my office, grabbed an assortment of #6 bolts, nuts, washers, and lock washers. I plan on mounting the speakers to the brackets with this hardware, compared to the hardware I was supposed to get... Along with drilling the 4th hole in the bracket since the speaker & bracket holes don't line up perfectly.

Crutchfield sent me a wrong rear door speaker's bracket, I contacted them and sent me the right ones.

The screws won't line up, just don't tighten right away ones every screws are in place then they will adjust after

For the 6x9s I was just planning on dropping the 3 bolts that align perfectly and then tightening them down with lock washers and a nut. Once the speaker is firmly mounted to the adapter, I was just going to use the fourth speaker flange as a locator for a new bolt hole and drill it out, then bolt it.

I just did this upgrade myself. Ditching the factory speakers for the Kicker series make a very noticeable difference, even without an extra amp!

I went a step further and added some Noico 80mil sheeting behind the speaker holes and some around the openings, also added speaker gasket tape between the speakers and their mounting brackets.

And then I went further down the rabbit hole, and added a single 10" Rockford Fosgate enclosed sub with a mono amp, and a Kicker 4-channel amp to push the CS series a little more. It's a perfect setup for me!

At some point down the road, I'll probably consolidate the two amps into one 5-channel workhorse, I just couldn't afford the one I wanted at this time.

Okay… I spoke to the Crutchfield guy and he recommended these 6 x 9’s @ $119.99/pr.. Check out the specs. I’ve already purchased the tweeters which improved my sound quality tremendously and increased the volume, notably. I do not have the JBL system in my 2017 TRD Sport DBLB. Simple question… I think… If I put these speakers in my front doors, am I likely to notice a difference from the OEM 6 x 9’s??? Thanks in advance.

Those metra adapters work well, I went to a local hobby store and purchased 1/4" foam sheets and cut to size to stop air loss between bracket- speaker and bracket- door.

When replacing the doors speakers it is worth the few extra dollars to purchase new nylon screw inserts for the door. The nylon gets super ratty after screwing in and out a couple times.

I used the 6-3/4 CS, component up front. Just cut the crappy tweeters out and used the existing wires to run from the crossover. It was the hardest part of the whole speaker upgrade because there isn’t much space to work between the dash and the windshield. It would have been easier if I was ok with running more wires, but I didn’t want to run anything new through the door hinge, if that makes sense.

I installed Kicker 44KSC6904 (the 2-way version of the 3-way 6x9 you posted) in the front doors about a week ago. Super pleased with the results. I listened to a bunch of 6x9 on Crutchfield's speaker compare app, looking for the one with the fullest midrange.

Went with Infinity REF-6532ex for the rear doors. Also applied SecondSkin butyl tile to all four doors.

Mid-range is wear it's at. Best compromise of treble and bass.

I switched out my OEM for Subaru tweeters and kicker speakers front and back. If I go beyond 40 in the volume settings my driver side door will rattle. Lol

Are they better than the upgraded JBL setup that comes OEM? I see everyone happy but curious how many paid for the JBL update and thoughts afterwards.
