Does anyone know of a way to walk away from a vehicle with the trans in neutral, vehicle off without all the nanny controls freaking out?

I have an extra long garage with a narrow front that lets me store 2 vehicles, but I can't open the door to get out. I have to push it in the last few feet.

Why can't you just drive it the last few feet?

Sorry, if you are regularly walking away from a vehicle left in neutral......you need those nannies.

Pick up a set of these and leave it in park:

I park my camping trailer in the garage, and theres about a ±2 inch tolerance to get it to fit properly. To get it in the exact corner where I need it, rather than make 30 thousand attempts at backing it just right, I'll just slap on a pair of wheel dollies and push it into place myself.

The same principle should work for a car.

Props to this dude for being dedicated enough to parking his Taco in the garage that he's willing to push it into place. Most folks would leave it outside. This is the part where I tell you you should've gotten a manual.:D

The truck may freak out but that doesn't prevent you from keeping it in Neutral, does it?

Thanks, but way too complicated (& expensive) for short storage. I own a car & a truck, both vehicles fit in the garage when the Fiesta ST is in front. I can push the ST manual trans into the narrow part with the truck behind it. Sometimes I want to leave the truck in the garage, take the ST, push the truck forward.

Park override switch. Depress, shift to neutral and move truck as necessary

Found this in another thread, haven't tested it myself though...

Start with truck parked outside garage. Turn the truck off. Push start button twice without your foot on the pedal (turns the ignition to ON without starting engine). Then put foot on brake and shift to neutral and push start button one more time to turn off. Push truck into garage.

So what exactly is it about a few beeps that is preventing you from walking away?

Yes! Thanks! I know about that, but I was understanding that as a way to unlock a faulty shift interlock? I think once it is in N, key off, the truck beep nasty things.

Yeah, that's what I have been trying to do. Neutral, key off, doors closed results in alarms. I tried to use the fob to lock it, but it seems disabled & will not lock.

It's not a "few" beeps. It is a constant warning alarm.
