Well I got pulled for tint yesterday, (in front of work ) and he decided to give me a ticket not only for my windows, but my tails, and license plate cover.

Anyway, he gave me fix-it tickets and i can deal with the tails and license plate cover, but could i just pay the fine for the windows and be done with it (that is until the next time i get pulled.) i really like the look of tint all around and dont feel like taking it off.

You can just mail it in a roll on.

Was it s city cop or a trooper?

I have had 3 tickets in the past for window tint about 3 years apart. For me, its for the 85 bucks every 3 years to have tinted windows

Personally, I think the tail lights are just asking for it in VA. I would be worried about those

If your just going to pay the fine, expect to be fined in the future too.

Ultimately, if you don't remove the tint - you could get pulled over again & again & again and fined every time.

Here in PA .... when you get a FIX IT notice, you have to fix the problem and take the vehicle to a shop and they have to 'inspect' it to make sure the fix was performed. Aside from that, I have no idea....

Like - if you don't get it fixed, will that be on your record? And perhaps for each and everytime you get pulled over.... if you have multiple fix-it notices, there might be some other discipline that they've give you. I don't know....

Just some things to think about....

Years ago, I had a Toyota Supra that was bascially blacked out. Surprisingly it would make it through a Virginia inspection but I kept getting pulled over by Fairfax County cops for having too dark tint. After 5 tickets (I was only pulled over at night), I finally took it over to a tint shop and asked them to take off the old tint and replace it with the darkest tint that I could have in the state of Virginia. I also had the shop put my request on the receipt. About a year after I had the tint done, I got pulled over again and was written a ticket. Tried explaining to the cop that my tint was legal but he didn't want to hear it. Went to court, showed the judge my receipt requesting for maximum tint by Virginia law and the case was dropped.

Sometimes it aint worth the fight....

I am curious. I just bought a 2010 access cab with tinted rear window and the two little doors tinted. Does anyone know how dark those are??

From other post I understand the backs are 27%. I put 35% on the front as my State requires 30% or higher and the match is pretty close. (Ebay 16.88 inc. shipping for both fronts)

    So get legal??

This is called "Pay to Play." The laws weren't jsut recently changed to screw you...They have been this way since before your were driving. You chose to have a truck that doesn't comply with the published laws. Can't go getting "worried" about it but keep doing it. You are either worried so you work to fix it...or you don't care and you continue to violate the law....

I think it has a lot to do with the particular situation/officer. Here in NJ, it is illegal for any tint except the rear window's (the rear doors and rear window). I have had 35% on my windows for years now and have never been harrassed however, just last month I was with a friend on rt 80 west and we were pulled over by a trooper for a 72 in a 65. He said I only pulled you over for your tinted front windows (my friends are 20%). The trooper gave my buddy a glass scraper and told him to peel the tint off the front windows now or he would tow the car. He was a REAL PRICK! My friend is not a wise guy at all and still got this so you never know

    x2.

If I rear-ended someone with tinted tails I would sue the hell out of them.

Just roll your windows down when the police is around. I hate people with tinted lights, i almost rear-ended a ricer that had his lights that were tinted so dark i couldn't see that he was breaking the other day.

I ain't sayin' I'm a saint either, this is just the way it is. Pay to play. If you're going to have illegal mods, make sure you have the dough for fines. You're going to get some sooner or later.

    How did you do that.
Fix it tickets here in Kalifornia require signing off by the agency that wrote the ticket or the CHP PLUS paying the fine.
You get a lazy cop who did not walk out to your truck?;)
