Pretty easy install yesterday of the Kings for the front, only really had to modify the resi mount to work with the @At The Helm Bumper Reinforcements, but was pretty quick work with a grinder and a file to clean it up and ended up working really well.

Could not get the drivers side UCA apart, so that gave me a little fit, so said screw it and just undid the tie rod instead to swap out the shock on that side since I will need to get an alignment anyways soon. Took it for a drive afterwards and felt great, just need to drive it a little more, let it settle some and then see if I need to adjust the height on them at all once I find somewhere level so I can measure ride height.

Other than that, I am pretty happy how the truck is coming along.

Now all I need to do now is get gusseted spindles, LCAs, and TieRods ordered and do those plus the wheel bearings that I have already sitting at the house...

I know. I have not had really a chance to see the truck in all its glory since I got them installed... hopefully I can later today...

Now I just need to figure out the best way to see if the front is lower than the rear and then adjust the fronts if needed. I know with the ARBs the front was lower after I put the winch on, but have not really had a chance to check now with the Kings. Guess I will need to find a good level spot tonight and do some measurements on the front of the truck.

 

next time unbolt the lower control arm from the spindle... two bolts and the lower can drop down.

 

Well I have to remove them again so I can adjust the fronts to raise them up a little bit.

So I guess this would be a good way to do this... so just the two bolts on the lower control arm from the spindle and then drop everything down from the bottom is what you are saying?

 

You sure you have to do that to adjust them?
My icons can be adjusted without removing anything, but I’ve found jacking the front end makes it easier.

 

Yep, the resi tube is in the way, I tried to do it by just jacking up the front, but it is impossible, I have both the King adjuster pin and the Fox adjuster wrench.

Yea, is kinda lame, but whatever, won't be hard to remove now that I have everything mounted up honestly.

 

And once they’re set, they shouldn’t need to be messed with.

 

Yep for sure, pretty much just need to go up about an inch on the drivers side and about .75 on the passenger side.

 

yes two bolts from the bottom, 19mm. i believe 110ftlbs torque when they go back on...

then one bolt holding the bottom of the coilover on, then the LCA will drop.. there might be some tension due to the cam bolts being tight, but you should be able to drop the LCA low enough to get the coilover out.

i take two ratchet straps to the spindle to hold everything in place and move it up to give me more access..

also an easy way to get the CV out when swapping CVs after you loosen the CV nut.

I was going to do this last week on Wed, but ended up taking a 1,800 mile road trip around Texas starting last Thursday, so spent all day Wed getting read and prepping... just got back home last night and hopped on here for a second.

So this didn't work and I ended up just taking the UCAs apart and going out that way lol. My LCA cam bolts are so tight that it won't let the LCA's drop, which that is my next project is to replace the LCAs and some other stuff up there...


Regardless, adding preload to these springs was a major pain in the butt, ended up having to take the springs to a shop that had a wall mounted strut compressor and putting them in that. But got it done. The 700lb springs I have in these just make it impossible to add preload to them by hand. But the shop I took them took did a really good job for me and charged me $20 a shock so was worth it going there anyways.

I spent my Birthday working at Lake Brownwood State Park for an Alumni Summit for the TPWD Ambassador Program, had some leisure time, but it was mostly working on developing and designing a program that will be revealed on October 1st for TPWD. Was me and 10 other Alumni from the Ambassador Program plus the coordinator, now to just wait to reveal it and start implementing it throughout Texas.
