It’s the same huge ass hole where the mice are getting into people trucks. The opening is huge and right in the cowl. Any water getting past the cowl can easily go down the huge hole and directly into the cabin through the HVAC unit.

Toyota knows. Toyota doesn't care. Why? Look at the sales numbers. They have no reason to care.

Post a YouTube video. Contact a consumer advocate, news stations often have them and they get results not granted to individuals, probably because they love to go on the air with those results.

Good luck with this. I realize I'm a 2nd gen owner posting in a 3rd gen thread but someday I might be one of you

Yeah....Filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration yesterday. Better Business Bureau is next and then anybody else who will listen.

I've been watching this thread so when I washed my truck yesterday, I nailed the cowl area with the hose and no water at all inside the cab of my 19. Sorry this is happening to you and good luck.

I put my 2016 through high pressure car washes many times over the 3+ years I owned it with no leaks.

I discovered it sitting stationary, 10 - 15 seconds later the water comes in.

    Exactly this.

if you've had a windshield replaced at some point, it requires screwing with that cowling and it's apparently very easy to get it put back wrong.

Also, mine came cracked from the factory. Dealer wasn't happy about it, but they replaced it.

    Mostly stuff I built.
Sealing this hole with an aluminum plate and some 3M urethane sealant was one of the first mods I made on my truck. Did this mainly to keep the cedar trees from plugging my cabin air filter but it also works great for heavy rain/water crossings.

Completely? That's the fresh air intake. It might keep the cabin air filter cleaner but you wont be able to filter fresh air.

Yes completely. I have done this to every vehicle I have owned in the past 20+years. That is precisely what putting the HVAC on recirculate does. It closes the vent in the cowling to the outside. The cabin filter still filters the air just nothing from outside. Suits me just fine don’t want the smell of skunks, roadkill and exhaust of other vehicles in the cabin any way.

That may work in Texas but in colder climates the windows will fog up.

Yes in the frozen north this is true. Knew there was a reason I decided to never work up there again lol.

UPDATE: Before reaching arbitration, Toyota has agreed to a buy back. Thanks all for the insight.
