Right, I believe the Tacoma is just a North American only truck.

Just did some fast reading. They made it sound like the hilux is the workingman's / oil company version of the Tacoma.

I would buy the mod for drivers side grab bar. I have issues getting in and out of mine and the woman complains when she gets in. I tell her to stay home and she tells me Shut Up. 47 years and we are still arguing.

These holes are spaced 7 inches apart. Therefore, any handle with 7 inch spacing at bolts/ screws will fit this. If the handle has a wide base, it can hide the holes that will be required.

Important point, neither hole is actually threaded. Feeling behind the hole for the screw, it seems like Toyota glued or welded a nut of some sort, maybe a threaded t-nut, to serve as anchor for the screw. Same can be done for the second hole.

When I find a handle I like, I’m installing it.

Has anyone with a 3D printer given it a shot with a mirror printing of the opposite side?

Has anyone tried attaching a right side handle to the left side? The handle itself, not the pillar frame.

I wish I had a 3D Printer. Seems like someone would have attempted this by now.

Even the largest $500k 3D printers can only do 36in x 36in x 24in volumes. Most desktop printers are about 10in x 10in x 10in. So, the pillar trim would have to be about three sections, if not more. Beyond that, there are no flat surfaces to start a nice print on, so finish quality will be truly horrible not even considering the joints. Finally looking at crash test videos, the pillar flexs quite a bit to allow the airbag to deploy. If one thing can be said about our easily scuffed trim, it is very flexible and does not break easily which is the exact opposite of most desktop prints.

Some rockstar like @MESO would maybe prototype it on a printer but would have to make $$$$$ molds for a part that size. It would probably make the part stupid expensive for this crowd.

No need for a 3D printer to make one. You can obtain a handle from a 4runner or 2nd gen Taco. The measurement is exactly the same and would be a plug and play.

Unfortunately besides the color, the pillar trim is shaped differently.

The pillar yes, am talking about the actual handle, the size for the hole are identical as the ones from the 4runner and 2nd gen Taco.

Ah! The handle is the easy part. I think we can even flip over the passenger side handle? The stupid trim piece is the massive hold up. It would be worth the full $86 from Toyota.
