I know the frame rot of this generation is a well discussed topic, I missed the 31JAN2019 time frame however. When bringing my truck in recently to have my leafs replaced they brought to my attention the truck failed a frame inspection and a frame was ordered for it, 6 months prior to my purchasing the vehicle. Does anyone have any similar stories happening and what Toyota did? Am I sol and have a paper weight taco now?

The dealership that inspected it and failed the frame should still do the recall. They have record of the VIN and as you stated ordered a frame for it.

I surely hope they do. I felt as if I was getting the run around a bit. It would be awesome if they honored it or atleast gave me a reasonable trade in value on it. I wish their was some sort of black and white policy on this issue so I have some sort of ammo if they tell me to get bent.

Was it the same dealer that did the rear leaf spring recall? If you get too much run around contact Toyota customer care line.

I think you should contact the dealer, maybe visit in person and talk with the GM, who ordered the frame to see what their stance is. Ask why wasn’t it replaced when they ordered it? See what happens from there.

    Is it a 4 or 6 cylinder?

The dealership who performed the inspection is in Cincinnati and the dealership who did the leads is in Virginia Beach. Not entirely sure which dealership in Ohio did it, I wasn’t given that info when talking to them in vb but didn’t ask either. I contacted Toyota customer care and they’re looking into it further. I received a update today saying the person who had it inspected just opted to sell the truck instead of having the repair done. It’s a v6

Also they said the frame was ordered and then the place in Ohio had the frame returned to the manufacturer. Still a lottve gaps in the time line though

It will be interesting to see what happens with the value of these trucks now that the frames can be ticking timebombs that are costly to repair.

i agree. I can understand their point of view. I was just a few months to late. If they could even give me a decent trade in value and I could get a new one I wouldn’t be to upset.

^That's strange. 2016 was before the Class action lawsuit was settled, resulting in the WEP.

Beats me quite honestly. But I hope they honor it since Toyota knew it was crappy in 16.

Looks like they did the frame spray. Not sure why it says ordered frame. It would have gotten one or the other.

Assuming they did the frame spray in 16 does that extend the warranty if the frame that’s apart in a few years?

Just checked. That E0D was the frame spray recall. ZH6 is the frame recall.

Interesting. I guess I wish they had a black and white instruction as to what is and isn’t eligible for the recall. (Being in the navy they have a instruction for literally everything)
