I just installed an aftermarket radio in my Tacoma and it has a rear USB input. I wanted to locate a plug somewhere in the dash that looked reasonably classy and so I 3D printed an adapter that fits in the place of one of the switch blanks in the lower console and accepts this:

    https://www.amazon.com/BATIGE-Square-Extension-Motorcycle-Dashboard/dp/B078LRSZDB

Came out pretty good I think. If anyone needs to do something similar, I'm happy to share the SketchUp file.

Yeah - why not make a bulk batch of them? I'd buy.

I'm not in a position to produce or sell these given I'm using a 3D printer at work. However, sounds like @95v6mt can get it done. Here are links to the files:

    https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/mo...-Tacoma-Switch-Blank-to-Batige-USB-Adapter-v1
    https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/mo...-Tacoma-Switch-Blank-to-Batige-USB-Adapter-v2

    And here are some comments:
    • Version v1 of the drawing was drawn to the actual dimensions that I desired for the part.
    • This was my first 3D print and I learned that my 3D printer isn't accurate and prints the outside too big and holes too small---if I understand correctly, this is typical. So, v2 is a drawing that I redid so that given the errors my printer makes, it would come out the right size. By the way, this was printed on an Ultimaker 3 using generic PLA filament.
    • I stuck blue tape to the print bed. This helps prints adhere but it also gives the print a little bit of texture which looks right since the OEM interior pieces are textured.
    • Finally, since you print this upside down there is an overhang and 3D printers struggle with those. I had to clean up a few stray filaments from that area after the print but the affected surface is hidden behind the usb so it doesn't matter much.
    Best, Darrell

looks like 5 each if we can get a min of 10, plus shipping. He would need to order black filment, so that would add few days.

Make sure he's using a plastic that can withstand the heat of being inside a vehicle in the summer. PLA will not hold up, it will warp severely. You need to use ABS or something stronger.

PLA definitely won't work in the heat.

Thanks for the model, BTW - I plan on modifying it for other uses. I was going to order some nice carbon fiber filament, but they wont ship it to this hellhole. I've got something else that might work so I'll give that a shot instead. What's the best way for popping out the blank?
