Hey big d got a question for ya i notice you have the dakar leaf springs and you put the axle shims on. What is their purpose?

 

I did my high clearance rear bumper and cut my bed sides in shorts and flip flops lol

 

Changes the angle of the driveshaft to reduce stress on U-joints and carrier

 

If i have the heavy duty dakars on would you recomend axle shims? And if so which ones would you recomend?

 

Keep the geometry of the drive line correct.

 

ibar.i don't have axle shims on my second gen, but I'm thinking I'll go with some because my driveshaft sits low in the carrier.

How is the smoker doing

 

I was dumb and figured i was putting a rooftop tent and bedrack along with rear bumper back there so i might as well buy the hds and not havto swap them for a long while.... still dont have any weight in the back due to lack of funds for bed mods so now i just ride stiff as wood.

 

Inconsistent, poor smoke output, the usual for an electric lol. I'm hoping to order that thermometer you recommended this week when I get paid.

 

Oh! You already have them. Ok I would check into the shims, there not much.

 

I did the same. Bought 886 coils for the front and HD Dakars in the rear expecting to do front ARB bumperwith winch and high clearance steel bumper with swingout plus RTT. A little over a year later, I'm there and the ride is pretty good, just not as good as Kings and such.

 

I think toytec had them for $70 or so

 

Next summer when it's super hot and not fun to be outside we should just build ya one.

 

How much does that cost? I'm thinking it's with it lol. I basically smoke by manual temp checks and spidey senses lol

 

Same thought process here. Ill get there. Active duty doesnt pay quite enough at year 5 to pay for all the mods to my toy haha. So im saving as i go. Its good to know it will get better down the road when i put all that stuff on.
