Gotcha, I thought you had gotten out just before the swap from UCP-OCP. I think I came in right before the swap happened. Like a year before it started. I remember being at my unit as a PFC not knowing shit and seeing people show up in OCP and the new black PTs like, "What the hell is that?!"

All my UCP stuff is now working clothes. Yard work, working in the garage, or other things. I even got some of the pants for my dad back when it was still the pattern so he could use it as his work pants.

BDU's were before my time

Now the AF has the same uniform as the Army again except the name tape colors are "Spice Brown" instead of black. Stupidest color to have on the uniform as it blends in with the camo pattern.

I need to use my old army uniforms more often, i keep trashing my good civvies lol

 

They are great work clothes man, especially with all those pockets

I remember I destroyed a set in Land Nav at Fort Hood for BLC. Shot my azimuth and just started running in that direction. Came across thick trees and bushes and just tucked my ACH down and crashed through. found all 4 points in 45 minutes out of the 3 and half hours allotted

Cedar trees and mesquite thorns ripped my shit apart but I took a nap afterward since they had nothing for us to do but wait for everyone else.

 

Or can anyone fabricate the competition ramps?

 

I know those land nav courses like the back of my hand. They're treacherous. Every few years someone dies on them.

 

Yeah the cycle before us there had one die from a heat stroke/dehydration. The Joe had drank a bunch of energy drinks the night before and that morning and all that caffeine dehydrated him bad. They banned energy drinks for all cycles after mine since we had a heat cat out there too, luckily he just got the ice sheets and IV and was fine.

 

Yep, it's no joke in the training area at Hood. Hardly any shade and its usually 5-10 degrees higher in temp than surrounding areas.

 

Yeah it was boiling out there, we were there in August and I was blown away. It got so hot they wouldn't let us march to lunch and had to get buses everyday for a quarter mile march to the DFAC. I went back to SA the first weekend and was genuinely surprised that 2 hours away its was like 10 degrees cooler but 15% higher in humidity.

 

Yep. I blacked out on several runs from overheating while I was stationed there.

 

We have had that happen a few times on Lackland due to the humidity and heat in the morning. Last AGR we had it was 87 degrees with 89% humidity and we had a couple of Soldiers fallout after mile 2.

The worst one I saw while there was when I was cadre for a Company event and they had to do the O-course on Camp Bullis right after lunch. Soldier blew chunks after finishing the barbed wire low crawl then made it right to the start of the next obstacle before faceplanting. The guy woke right back up after hitting the ground wondering what the hell happened.
