I would have jumped on a Pro but, I have absolutely no need for a 4X4. Love my TRD sport 2wd.

From my 12 year old when we were at Herb Chambers in Auburn picking up a part. Daddy it doesn't even have adjustable front suspension like yours, look at the UCA's they are the same ones on all the other Tacoma's. Even he gets that it's overpriced for what you get, and he's 12.

Exclusivity is not there on the 3rd gen PROs. It's just another model in the line up. That's why I have never understood the "mark up" on the new PRO when it's not a limited production run like my '15 was. Only 1200 produced in 2015.

Living on debt is a way of life pretty much worldwide... more so in the US, because such a large percentage of GDP is consumer spending. If it's not consumer debt, it's definitely government debt.

It's really not money that makes the world go round, it is debt. Debt is the engine, money is the fuel. You could say then that debt is good, right? Well, yes, kinda... but in the right dosage. And then you detox yourself (raise interest rates), then you can do it again (lower them), then detox, and so on... We haven't been detoxing lately, just increasing the dosage.

What will the catalyst be? IMO, it will be gradual, and eventually abrupt loss of confidence in the dollar. Why loss of confidence? Increasingly lower interest rates and eventually money printing (aka modern money theory, of which the new IMF head Lagarde is a big proponent). Basically, let's say simplistically a loaf of bread will cost, say, 50 dollars. That will get everyone's attention.

Majority of people believe "that will never happen here, in the US". I wish that were true. I'm not wealthy and don't have a cabin in the woods, so it will suck for me too, to put it mildly. People believe that the law of economics just don't apply to the US as they do to absolutely everyone else.

We haven't raised rates enough to leave much room for lowering on the next cycle. Biggest concern I have. Not really prepared for the next cycle and we are already talking about rates cuts again.

The catalyst is not limited to the USA. You can buy a 10 yr bond from the German government and get less than what you put in at maturity (due to negative interest rates), and Germany is the strongman in Europe. Brexit is still up in the air. Then there is China.

I agree. That's why they talk about modern money theory. Interest rate cuts, and even negative rates won't do it this time.

When you listen to some economists talk with absolute certainty about the future success of MMT, it's hard to not believe them, as a regular person. Those are smart economics PhD's, who am I to argue with them?

The thing is that MMT on the scale that will be needed and is being discussed has never been tried. Never in the history of the world, that is. We will be in uncharted territory soon enough.

Maybe, just maybe, those smart economists will lead us into a bright new future. Maybe they will be able to navigate successfully (economic) situations that nobody has ever faced. There will be financial experiments going on though, that's a guarantee. That's not a conspiracy theory. They will have no choice but try all sorts of different options and see what works. There is no play book for the next crisis. All indications are that it will be epic, and we will be the lab rats.

I just picked up a white 2019 TRD PRO (without desert air intake) at the end of May. The dealer had it on the lot for 88 days. I kept driving by it everyday on my way to work. Finally, stopped to see what the story was in April. They did not really discount it much so I walked away. Come May 28th, I get a phone call saying they are having a big 2 day sale (gotta love end of month) We talked and finally agreed to a price. The truck had 800 miles on it at this point. (sales manager had been using the last couple of weeks). Ended up getting it for a little over $41K and traded in my 2016 TRD OR and used its equity to bring the total price down even further. They still have 2 more TRD PRO's left.
I think it got a good deal!

I laugh every time I drive by the Toyota dealership and see all the Pros sitting there. Same with the Raptors at the Ford dealership. They all will sell. The dealership just won't be making as much margin. I was at the dealership a couple years ago, saw a guy looking at Pro T4R. Next day I asked my salesman, whom I have bought many vehicle from, if that guy bought it. He said yes and told me the dealership grossed $12,000.00 on the deal.

Bonds and yield curves make my brain explode. One topic I could never grasp. I do understand the inverse relationship of rates and bond prices though. Which is why it was pretty easy for their to be a bond king over a 30 year period of decreasing interest rates. How you going to do that anymore? Was easy for 30 years.

EU seemed destined to fail since you have different ideologies trying to share monetary policy. Doesn't allow countries to control their own currency as necessary i.e. Germany bailing out Greece.

I wonder if the decreased demand for the aging Tundra and Sequoia has prompted San Antonio to up production of the PRO. That is about the only vehicle they produce that has demand. The access cab is not exactly a huge seller.

    I have two prediction for the 4th generation Tacoma;

-They will drop the Access Cab
-No manual transmission option. The 5% of buyers that choose a manual will be out of luck

One of the black pros has roof bars, naturally it costs 2k over MSRP to install that.

Sounds easy but it's really not that. As someone who once worked in the Recovery department for one of the largest banks in the US I can assure you banks are not in the business of selling. We had vehicle accounts that were up to 9 months delinquent and we would rather work something out with the debt holder than repo the vehicle and sit on it. Just like mortgage delinquencies can go up to two years before we file for repossession of the dwelling because we just are not in the business of selling. It's sad but buyers are getting away with murder and the banks have very little resources to handle the insane backlog of delinquencies let alone go after property that now must be repossessed and then go through the reselling process that the banks are just not equipped to handle. No worries though....the banks factor loss recovery into their fees, interest rates and the like that you and I pay when we do our banking.

I hope they don't give access cabs the boot. It's a great option.
