Breakfast and lunch every day this week. Keep my on-the-go meals pretty much the same so prep is easy.

    1/2 cup brown rice
    2 eggs
    140g egg whites
    28g cheese
    2.5 oz cherry tomatoes
    Chalula hot sauce

    1cup brown rice
    4.5oz chicken breast
    1cup broccoli
    1/2 cup carrots
    28g cheese
    Siracha

Granola bar for quick carbs right before I lift.

Okay. Tried max DL this morning. God damn y’all are strong.

5’9. 183lbs. Got 385 up. Anything over 400 though and my hands couldn’t keep the bar gripped. Much respect to y’all.

Why don't we just agree I can probably DL more than @uhplifted but less than everyone else here. I haven't DL in over a year.

Today is quads, chest, back, and abs for me.

I’ve never really tried hook grip and I don’t plan on it. I have short fat fingers so I don’t think I could pull it off anyway. A lot of people at my gym do it and complain about how bad it hurts so they really aren’t selling it for me either lol. I do double overhand until I start working on my heavy doubles or triples then I switch to mix grip.

Whatever you do just don’t use straps or gloves o_O

Hook grip is really only good for reps under 3. Your thumbs feel like they’re being ripped out the socket.

I don't ever get the thumb out of socket sensation. It's quite comfortable for me until I start pulling a lot of heavy reps. Then it's just intense pressure in my thumbnail. It did take me a year or so to get super comfortable with it, but it's well worth knowing I'll never lose a pull due to grip.

I also use mix grip for high-rep sets.

How about just not using your thumbs?

I try to grip using only my main 4 fingers. I've been doing this will all my back exercises to include pull ups and I find it much more comfortable and my forearm strength has improved drastically. I too have too small of hands to do the hook grip comfortably.

A better way of explaining is I keep my thumbs on the same side of the bar as the other fingers.

I pull mixed all the time. On occasion I’ll do a lighter weight Amrap and throw on some straps, but that’s not often.

I’m not worried about missing a lift because my grip giving out. I’m confident in my grip strength. If I miss a lift it’s bc I’m too weak to pull it. Both meets I’ve done I’ve missed my last deadlift bc it was too heavy and I bitched out before even breaking the floor. After an all day of lifting it’s pretty easy to convince yourself you aren’t getting that last attempt, no matter how many shots of whiskey you have first :bananadead:

For sure. No reason to hook if your grip is never the weak link. I pull sumo. Using a mixed grip, my thigh peels my fingers open on my “over” hand. Doesn’t happen with the hook, so hook it is.

Gotta start somewhere and that could be a lot worse! ;) Over twice your body weight isn't bad. Do you do an over/under grip?

I'll use over hand grip for pauses or rack pulls, but with my mixed grip my hands are the last thing to give out.
