That area isn't bad. Not the same as if they left it out in the desert or in a high traffic wheeling area like Big Bear. Still a risk though no doubt, but I wouldn't worry too much if they have no other choice. Just be sure to get back to it in the morning if it comes to that.

Edit - just saw he mentioned leaving it there for a week....not a good idea lol. Even if other people don't get to it the rangers will likely find it.

You leave the truck on the trail for a week , chances are it'll be seriously vandalized / damaged

I'm not available to help but if you had a couple of extra people you can put one person on each tire and steer it manually. It's not pretty, or fast, but I've done it twice and it worked.

Can't wait to see what happens, good thing it's not my truck :bananadance:

I did notice some random meth heads walking back in fourth thru the creek, but I think the area we are should be fine for a day or so. It's about 3 hours away from where we live

In the morning my buddy is contacting dealers to see what parts they have to hopefully be able to repair on trail. I told him to contact the ranger station as well just to see if there's any Forest passes he must pay and display for overnight camping

I don't have social media but I had my friend add SCOR! Thank you guys for referring that.

I'll keep everyone updated! I should have a better idea in the morning

*Edit: parts is closed on sundays. This makes it more fun. What do you guys think, leave it till Monday?

We found 1 orielly distribution center in Moreno valley with a regular Colorado inner and outer tie rod. My friend is grabbing that right now, and we plan to be back at the trail by 5-530p to work on the ZR2

This way we can limp it a mile or so to the flat area and trailer it out

The axle or actual zr2 tie rods will be here Tuesday

There's no service at all for about 45 mins from where the truck is, I'll give you guys another update as we get close to the trail. Nice day for 4 wheeling if anyone wants to hit those trails and say hi to us :D

    4 run, 2 don't
Hand held GPS' have a range of settings; just a theory because it's what I use (old school Garmin 12 or 14 satellite) if I don't have my Android tablet or phone with Gaia GPS downloaded on it.

I stick to Topo maps for the most part.

I just used Google maps when I got back to town, I knew on satellite map view where we parked

Bout an hour out from the truck, sun is going down so this should help

We should def remove the broken CV axle before moving as well right? This gonna be such a bitch lol

Wow...hopefully its off the trail somewhat and not blocking it. People travel for hours to run MJT, only to find it blocked 1/2 mile in from the start. That would make for some fairly angry wheelers. Let's hope you guys get it safely down tonight.

I agree, so I made sure to leave it out of the pathway, it conveniently broke down in a spot we could park

We made it down the mountain guys! Just aired up. I must say, I did a dam well job on that alignment lol

Gonna watch his ass drive home going 30 mph now so I'll keep you guys updated how that goes. Thank you all for the bumps, tips, tricks and offering to assist!

Curious how that tie rod broke, are they notoriously weak on the Colorado? For such a new truck you don't see that too often at least not on Tacomas unless they're pushing 35s and riding hard
