Satoshi Grille Write Up

so if i buy this:

i shouldn’t have to cut anything?

 

You still have to cut out the middle section of the grill

 

but that design is already two pieces

 

Yes but you’ll see that middle section right through the mesh if you don't cut it out.
Not a big deal, it takes like 5 min.

You need the inner section in order to be able to mount the grill to the truck, you can just use the outer surround and attach it to mesh, It doesn’t work that way. Also if you buy a chrome one they will come with the two pieces already plastic welded together.

 

so i messed up and ordered the 2011 grille instead of the 2010. this is one piece instead of two, but it looks like i can still cut it and secure the mesh. i’m not sure why the website recommends to use a 2010. will this work?

 

All 05-11 grills are interchangeable

 

Cromag27, the factory grille('05-11) is a molded one piece design. The center bar is not bolted on. It will need to be jigsawed off but you will still need to do some fab to the sides along with sanding it. You are on the right track with the parts but still need some labor prior to mounting it. When you cut off the center piece, you will have to patch up the missing sections as seen in the pic on the left side of the grille. I glued a flat section from the center grill then bondo'd/sanded it flush with the rest of the grille surround. Here's my process:

 

i’m confused because the video on the car grills website cuts it more shallow so you don’t have to fill in the side pieces. but they also state for 2011 models you have to order. 2010 grill. this made no sense because i know they’re the same.

 

That's because he did a full depth satoshi Mod. For the Custom Car Grills mesh you need to remove the center but do not have to build up the sides.
