With light racing UCAs, it's $1100 vs $1800. Is the OME kit worth the extra $700 on a 2019 TRD OR?

I don’t own a 3rd Gen, nor do I have a TRD OR — but, I originally started with 5100’s and had them for around 150,000 miles on my 2nd Gen. They were fine. Recently (this year) I upgraded to the same OME kit in your screenshot (just for my Gen) and after the OME broke in and loosened up, dang, what a difference for the better.

Having used both, my vote says the OME is the better kit, and the Dakar’s are great if you haul at all. I think it’s worth the extra $700.

The OME kit come with replacement leaf springs right? That alone makes it worth more.

Yes, full replacement springs, along with all the hardware you need for the install. Headstrong is a great place, too, and they shipped fast.

You can always build a kit too, I am running 6112's and 5100's in the rear with wheelers HD leaf springs. Wheelers Offroad will hook it up if you call.

I almost bought from Wheelers, but Marie at Headstrong was so patient with all of my bone-headed questions that I was morally obligated to order from them.

I thought 6112/5160 was the only way to do that set-up? The 5160s are on "national backorder" and no one is even taking orders for them.

They wouldn't call me, as requested in an email, and their phone was busy every time I tried them :boink:

Hmmm, that’s not good. FWIW all of my communication with them was done through email. Maybe they’re just extremely busy right now? I don’t know.

I bought them separately, you can configure it any way you'd like. You can still find 5160's on Amazon and ebay. My rig is just go get me where I want to explore/surf so 5100's are plenty, still a huge improvement over stock. Wheelers is super easy to work with, they're semi-local to me as well, definitely give them a call.

I went with 5100 in the front and OME 888 coils. In the back I did the OME Dakar leaf packs.
It’s noticeably stiffer than the stock bilsteins are but it’s not bad at all. I have no experience with the OME shocks but I’ve heard all good things about them.

Are UCA's necessary for these kits?

People say 2'' (probably) and 3'' (for sure).

HOWEVER, I had 5100s set at 1.75'' on my last Tacoma with stock springs and stock UCAs. The alignment was off after the dealer tried and Pep Boys tried. This time, I'm not messing around. I'm putting aftermarket UCAs on.

I don’t have UCAs (though I do plan on doing them soon) and my local shop was able to bring my alignment back in. Took him about an hour but it’s damn near perfect. But it’s definitely recommend over 2”

Wow that looks awesome! I have so many questions! How does it ride? What size tires? Big hit on mpg? This is exactly what I am thinking of doing!

Thanks! Rides well, but fairly firm, especially with E load range tires (265/65r16). Make sure to get the soft-ride OME shocks up front. I had the regular nitro chargers on my ‘16 4Runner Trail, and they were pretty rough. Of course mpg sucks. I get 15/18.

Had my new tires mounted/balanced and the alignment was 150. I know the guy that runs the shop I went to though
