Student loans are another catastrophe waiting to happen.

I fell prey to the Pro allure…but I also got it under MSRP (barely) in the color and tansmission I wanted, so no complaints here. Don’t plan to mod it much and only do minimal off-roading, so it’s the perfect package for a guy like me. Would neverpay $5-10K over MSRP for one though…that’s cray

This thread sparked my curiosity, so I checked inventory at my local dealers for 2019 Tacomas 4WD, all trims.
Dealer 1: 17 total on the lot, with 7 sports, 4 OR, and 2 PROs. No manual transmission option.
Dealer 2: 45 total on the lot, with 18 sport, 14 OR, and 2 Pro. Sidenote: 4 of these come with the manual transmission (2 OR, 2 Sport)
Dealer 3: 22 on the lot, 15 Sport, 4 OR. 1 manual trans.

I don't think the bubble burst. I think they are just producing more Pros than previous years because the consumer is buying them and its a greater profit for the dealership and Toyota. If it wasn't for the Pro model, there would be no Pro parts/accessories; the Pro is selling in a couple different a ways.

And somehow not one of them is a manual. They'd probably sell a few more with manual.

Longo had a Super White base manual shift Pro sitting on the lot for four months ($45,011 MSRP ). It finally sold 2-weeks ago. As the largest volume Toyota dealer in the world they know one thing; what sells and what doesn’t.

Well they have a shit load of automatics sitting there, they aren't moving any better. The manuals are more desirable from what I have seen. They have a cult-like following, which will always get sales from people searching all over for them.

You need to remember that Longo is in LA. Driving a 3-pedal vehicle in heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic is a nightmare. Also, everyone knows that resale will be much easier with an automatic and actually preferred when taken off road.

I just drove by my local dealer in Escondido and counted 12 pros on the lot. Voodoo, black and white. All have a 5k markup. No idea how they plan to move them with than many sitting on the lot. Kind of takes the “rarity factor” away with that many in one place.

Werent 2017 pros actually limited to a certain number? I recall people waiting months to find theirs in whatever color/combo they wanted.

I have seen alot of 2019 pros on the streets lately. Did they actually just make alot more of them? Maybe toyota saw the gravy train and it backfired on them? I have only seen 2 other cement pros around here in miami in the almost 2 years ive had mine. I bet none of those are manuals though!!!

Or maybe people just want the features of the 2020 if they are already shelling so much more cash for the "pro"

No shit there really are 12
I noticed last time I was there that there were a more tundra, 4Runner and taco pros there than I had ever seen at one time.
It’s like Toyota did a run on pro models and flooded dealers

    Just leased t a pro for 36 month lease 270 a month.
    Never buying again.
Always thought that leasing is throwing money away. But I always find myself making payments regardless. So now I get a new truck every 3 years. Never pay for warranty and that song and dance in the finance office. Quick and clean. Was in and out in less then 2 hrs.

And at the end of 3 years, you can't sell it for $30,000 plus.

Just keep in mind that “leasing” is just a business term for “renting”.

Buying a low mileage 1-2 year old used car for cash is your best bet for a depreciating asset like an automobile.

I cant get over the "this is not my truck" thought with leasing, would be too afraid to use the fox suspension offroad on a lease.
