What was your plan for the cubby next to the cup holder? Maybe you could have someone 3D print a holder for it and drill a small hole for the wires.

 

I’ll also add ergonomics play a key here. In a recovery situation, you want the buttons to be somewhere natural, and tactile. You should be able to focus on the recovery and not have to fumble with buttons. Part of why mine went where they did.

Are you Looking for a stock looking switch and or location, or an anything/anywhere?

Reason I ask is, I have not searched for stock looking switches. That said, if you are going for the latter. I grabbed these two pics for a possible location. Pending you want to cut into the factory trim.

I have not been behind here, or know if its even possible.


Side, flush mount. Did run my fingers behind this and seems like the depth of said switch could work.

Another question for yea.... do you use the Qi charger slot for anything at all. I throw my phone in there. If you do not use that space at all. Look at the home page for the links above. in the scrolling page there looks like someone made a panel to mount in the Qi spot.

DO you have a storage slot to the left of the wheel? I put a panel in there. I can probably find out who made it.

What is the brand of winch? Reason I ask is.. My old M1114 from Iraq had the winch controller socket mounted in the dash. When needed, you just hooked the factory winch controller to it. then it could be used from the driver seat or standing out side if you wanted too. You might be able to do the same if you can get the socket for yours. then run wire to the winch and tie them in.

This would give you an either / or location to use. At the same time.. No one could screw with it.

 

Get real crazy and go old school.. Mount said socket in the glove box and leave the controller in there. open when needed, hook it up, use it. when done.. throw it back in the glove box.

The cubby to the left of the wheel is taken up by my Switch pro panel. So that's out, too.

I have looked at those two spots Bill pointed out and they're a possibility. A slim one, but a possibility nonetheless.

I have also thought about mounting the plug in the cab. I meant to look at that this evening and got Shanghai'd. Glovebox is a good idea.

For the cubby in the center console my plan was to remove it and mount a 3x3 pre-wired panel I had found. When I went out to go measuring is when I saw that the cupholder was part of the cubby. When Adam gets back I'll have to see if he can 3D print something.

I'd like the solution to be as OEM as possible. As of right now my easiest way is to take two accessories off the Switch pro and use that. I have two buttons I'm kind of using for dumb things. It's also the easiest to wire.

Ah! Yeh, that makes is a little more interesting. Does your truck have the Qi charger? If so, you could possibly repurpose that switch/panel location. I don't use my Qi charger.

 

It does. I thought it was the coolest thing when I first got the truck. I believe I've used it twice in two years. I've been looking for something to fill that space.

I suppose you are looking for a rocker switch. I haven't found a small one of those yet.
