@dabbinuguay how are you liking you General Grabber ATx tires? Are yours SL load range? How's the noise level on road?

I have a ‘18 TRD Pro, & I do not understand how some people get such good mpg. I am confident in saying I think it’s impossible in my truck. Why? Even when it was 100% stock, I was lucky to get 18-19 if I BABIED it. Now with all-terrain tires, steel bumper & sliders, 15-16.

Makes me wonder if some people’s were somehow tuned different in the factory. There’s a photographer on YouTube who does a lot of highway driving & claims he gets mid to upper 20’s. 2019 Pro. I thought he was full of it, then I read stories like this.

    I'm a big fan.
2k miles on them and they still sound just like stock tires. SL range.

Lol, 35 isn’t old. Until 2 years ago I was working in the 2-way radio business. My job included climbing towers to mount antennas and installing mobile radios in cars, trucks, ambulances, hwy dept plows, etc. What made me get a different job wasn’t my age, but the scar tissue from head and neck surgery and radiation which made it to painful to be climbing and contorting. At 61 I now have a comfy desk job at the VA and I love it.

Dont go hard on the throttle, try to coast as much as possible, get behind large trucks on the highway and dont do constant lane changes.

Wind and terrain play a big part also. It's not very hilly where I live. I can tell the difference between driving into a head wind, having a tail wind, or no wind on my mileage. My picture from a couple days ago when I got 22.2 mpg was driving mostly at 65 mph and not much wind. I've made the same trip with a head wind and only got 19 mpg, with a tailwind and got 23.2.

and switching from duratracks to an actual road tire helps.

i get about 2-3l/100Km better with the stock goodyears than i do with my BFG KO2s.

Welcome to TW! You’re mileage should improve after your first 5K miles or so. Right now the ECT (transmission) is basically learning your driving habits; hence the constant searching for gears.

Hm, mine is at 36k miles and still kind of a pain with searching for gears. I wonder if that might be more related to the prior owner. Does it continuously adapt?

That could be the case; especially at that kind of mileage. Wonder if it could “reset” somehow. :spy:

We've tested hundreds of the cheapos, but stick to those we can stand behind.

I was looking at this one, but it states this won't fit my 2017 Tacoma. Do you have a link to the ones you used ( I know you got it as a gift, but asking anyway).
