Ditto 1977 Hilux. People with newer tacoma’s don’t appreciate how good they have it.

Its possible that overall the truck is fairly quiet but I wouldn't know. My normal seating position aligns my left ear where the front door meets the suicide door. It sounds like a tropical storm unless temporarily leaning away. Dealer put some extra rubber strips in, didn't help much..went from a hurricane to a tropical storm status.

Serious. My first brand new Toyota Pickup was in 1985. 22R engine. Four speed. No A/C, no power nothing, vinyl seats, six ply tires and no radio.

Several car reviews have complained about the Tacoma being loud FWIW. CR said they had to yell at each other to converse. It's quieter than my 2004 was IMO. I don't have a problem with either. Something could be messed up on yours. Test drive another one and compare maybe.

Most people take power/power assisted steering for granted.

    It’s quieter than my wife’s 2016 Forester.

I wish they were louder actually. I like the sound of diesel tractors and heavy duty gas engines with loud engine fans.

Makes sense. It seems like couples are always yelling at each other in Foresters.

What? I couldn’t hear you over all these whining posts. I have no issues with the cabin noise.

87 4x4 for me. 386k miles. Drove across country twice, to three different bases. Sold it to a guy who uses it to get to and from his ganga farms up in Humboldt. Still miss it

Those were the days. What was I thinking buying a Toyota Pickup without A/C in Albuquerque, NM. Three sixty air worked great.

that's another unhappy 3rd gen owner who has since sold his/her/its truck bought Suburu(should have bought one in the 1st place) and still trolls TW to add further negativity about the 3rd gen Tacoma but has never added anything of value to this site.

I test drove a 19 Manual and 18 Auto, they were louder than my 18 T4R. But the noise really doesn't bother me cuz I have been driving my civic with the "racing exhaust" on, if you know what I mean lol, for 9+ yrs now.

I get the same noise that has me checking the windows are up. Likely a door seal and only noticeable on the freeway. Not a big worry as I only notice it if the radio is off.

    Did OP test drive first?
If it's noisier than what you want, why buy? I don't get it.

Can't say I've noticed any road noise...or wind noise...or engine noise...
