I’m at a fork in the road here guys. About to purchase a RTT. And I’m stuck in the middle of Tepui or CVT any recommendations?

There's a really informative thread on the offroad forum here, RTT BS or something like that in the title. Your question has likely been asked and answered repeatedly in that thread. Take a look through that one (or ask again).

I'm sort of in the same boat deciding which brands. Here's my research cliff notes:
    - One thing that is sort of pushing me towards Tepui is purely financial... REI sells them and with their usual once a year 20% off and dividends, you can get a Tepui for a decent discount.
    - CVT seems to me a little bit better at customer service, not that Tepui is bad, but CVT seems like a smaller company that might respond better to any potential issues (I reserve the right to be completely wrong about this)

I'm also debating a Treeline tent... but the price plus the limited number of people who own one of theirs and can provide reviews has me skittish. I'm a fan of smaller companies that would pay more attention to details over mass production. It's a curse I must deal with.

@Hextall thanks bud!! I’m really liking the stargazer feature on the CVT, but your right the Tepui won’t break the bank, uhhhh wtf to do here.

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
    Smittybilt at half the price.

We’ve used ours dozens of nights over the three years we’ve had it and the only issue has been the cover is wearing on sharp corners and ladder parts, but its repairable with gorilla tape and neoprene patch on the inside. Also put padding on the corners to help protect the cover.

With some smaller companies going under recently, it might be worth considering one associated with a name brand.

Tepui is part of the Thule Group, and, as mentioned, available at a major retailer REI.

having had my Tepui for 4 years and put it through its paces... lived in it 8 weeks up to the Arctic last summer, 3 weeks through Baja this summer and many other smaller excusions, I can say that they take a beating. Their customer service as been awesome too. They replaced the entire fabric the first go around when I wasn't happy with some of the stitching on the seams, they replaced the cover, they replaced zippers that broke probably due to tired user error. Tepui is awesome. Yeah they are part of Thule now, but you'll still talk to the same guy in the warehouse every time. Oh and TepuiFest is a blast
