Technically he is the responsible owner of the vehicle. If the insurance is in his name he could be then liable party from and insurance stand point. She could be held civilly liable possible. Now a days lawyers will sue all people involved so that they have as many monetary sources as possible. Theyll sue the coworker, insurance company and the son. The police may even charge with a crime since there were deaths caused by her negligent running of the stop. Good luck.

sounds like business as usual as far as going after the vehicles owner.

accidents like that the insurance companies will go after everything from the driver of the vehicle to the owner of the vehicle and really could even try going after the manufacturer of the stop lights for being calibrated incorrectly and perhaps even the town if say the intersection has a history of deadly accidents.

Found this thread because I'm trying to determine if my mileage is bad. Got a 2010 DCSB 4.0 in May. 39k miles, 265/70/R16 tires kept at 30psi. I mostly drive alone, not a bunch of weight in the truck, no shell. 90% city driving, and I'm in Oklahoma, so def using the AC a lot of the time, especially the past month.

Been keeping track of Fuel-ups with Fuelly, and the best MPG I've gotten is 14.6, with the average over 6 fill-ups at 13.6. My fill-up this week reported my MPG for the previous tank was 12.9!

To be fair, I haven't checked anything under the hood yet. Seems like those numbers are pretty poor compared to what I've seen here. Just curious what anyone else thoughts are on this?

This will be a problem for EVs in the summer months.

    How's the engine sound?

I slightly mistreated my old Honda mower for while, mowing really tall grass to the point it would stall out, not changing the oil / spark plug. You could hear it in how the engine ran. Now that I've caught up on maintenance, it purrs like a kitten. But I'll tell you the oil was very dark and the plug was burnt up, and it didn't sound quite right.

I think it sounds ok? But I've only had it a couple months, and my first Taco so I don't really have a frame of reference. Also, I (stupidly) assumed everything under the hood was on the up and up since I got it from a dealership, but clearly I need to get in there and check things out for myself.

I get like 200 miles to a tank. I would gladly take whatever you are getting.

so you're saying it's normal? or is your MPG just also bad?

edit: Autoblog's specs show estimated city MPG at 14. So I guess it is normal. Oh well :(

Did you change your plugs at 30K?

Yep. Plug intervals are 30K. Most use Denso. I'd also clean the MAF and see if that improves things. Also check the air cleaner and cabin filter. If you just got it, most good dealerships would at least change those things.

It was a Toyota dealership so I hope they did, any way to tell how old the plugs are? As you can prob guess by that question, I don't know much haha. I'll def check all those things though.

The original plugs will be half and half. Half Denso in one side and half NGK in the other. I forget which side is which.

that's interesting, why is it half and half? and if I replace all I can just do all the same with no issues right?

No one knows for sure why Toyota does that. Ok to just stick with just one brand.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Its a deal toyota has with Denso and NGK to "share" profits...

This is why you should have an umbrella insurance policy alongside your standard auto insurance. Never know what may happen.

The son was at fault for "letting his mother drive his Jeep". Whether this suit has a leg to stand on or not depends on the legal precedent in the state the suit was filed in.

Think twice next time you let your friends or family drive your truck. ;)
