Edit - this was totally posted in the wrong thread, sorry guys.

I'm glad to know from earlier posts that it is possible to swap the cams without taking the timing chain cover off. I'm going to try my hand at that, since I didn't like the idea of introducing the possibility of creating oil leaks in the cover seal, when it's not leaking yet.

Can anyone explain the mechanical workings of the intake's variable timing system? I assume it's some kind of oil-driven system...?

Correct. At 1:19 in this video it shows how oil control adjusts the cam timing.

There are many more in depth videos if you feel like exploring.

not sure if this is the right place to ask, but why would I rather want to run dual widebands (one in each bank) as opposed to just 1 wideband at the merge ?

Provides greater fidelity on any issues per cylinder bank as opposed to something in general across all six when trying to troubleshoot.

how common is it to have one bank go way off from the other with our set-ups ? Just asking cause i'm about to pull the trigger on some gauges, stuck between the DLG-1 or a matching speedhut setup...

    I have the DLG1 for afr's and a Speedhut boost/vacuum gauge.
I like to have as much resolution as possible but many run a single at the merge.

I do not recall any instances off-hand from the forums. I am not running dual and do not intend to run dual wideband when I get my JRF Y-pipe. However, the most common thing I could think of would be some sort of exhaust leak. A breach in the exhaust manifold or gaskets could introduce additional oxygen to the flow. This would be identified by either single or dual, but a dual would allow you to quickly know which side of the exhaust to start working on.

I'm sure there are other instances as well, (faulty injector perhaps, stuck valve...) but there are more sensors in the block that can help alert you to the root cause of an AFR imbalance between cylinder banks.

If you're running lean (or rich) and you have dual AFR, it sure makes it easy to narrow down where the problem is.

    Dear uncle Roosty,

@Athlaos has helped me convince myself that I do indeed want one of your sexy ass bitchen y-pipes, which I always wanted anyways, so can I be put on the list? Would it be possible to have it done by when he goes on his road trip so he can smuggle it back to Canada for me like Burt Reynolds would in Smokey and the Bandit?

Sure man! What all do want? How many extra O2 bungs and what size merge collector exit?

Thinking 3 bungs with one in the merge, 3" merge collector exit and a vband with the extension tube.

I have had this happen first hand with one bank going lean while the other was nice and rich. I observed this both in data logs as well as visually on both of my AFR gauges. I would highly recommend going with dual AFRs. The cost up front will be worth it down the road when you are troubleshooting and trying to isolate the problem

All, I just got a chance to update the waiting list. Please check to make sure I have your order correct and that I didn't miss anyone. :D

Getting back to fabricating these very soon!

Roost, how close are you to Fort Bliss? I’m heading out there next week, just Monday through Friday, but was wondering if I was close enough to swing by.

If driving it looks like about a 2 hour detour. PM me if you are driving and I'll give you my addy and contact info.
