I'm not sure what ammo we were using in Afghanistan, it wasn't the green tip stuff. It almost looked like it has a tungsten or similar tip (maybe core). I spent 12 years in the army, and that was the only time I saw those particular rounds. Never even paid attention to the nomenclature.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Could have been depleted uranium (armor piercing).

That is very likely, the locals ANP claimed they were and wanted them, compared to the ball we gave them to use. I never took anyone's word for it, because they were just as ignorant as I.

Ifen it was M855 green tip then yes it was tungsten core

DU is used in much bigger projectiles than the 556, typically 25mm and bigger, the A-10 30mm gun runs a DU round

Yeah the 55gr XM193 (ball) is good fer shootin & trainin, ok fer gettin someone’s attention, not very effective in terminal dealings

Oh yes and it’s cheap too

A-10 is the most bad ass of the bad ass. Never saw one in action, but I believe that is because no one wants to be on the other side of that beast. I never had much faith in the round, but thats what I had my last deployment. I was a gunner previous, and belt fed it doesn't matter how well their terminal ballistics perform. Just put enough holes through them.

Project find my mother fucking GD squeak has come to a close. Say hello to the bearing at the bottom of my king shocks. Replaced the bearing and misalignment spacers on both sides. The pictures are of the drivers (worse) side.

Woot! Scored on a used shortbed from Craigslist today. Nice guy named Pablo in Denver (south of Reading). Dude says he's owned 20 tacomas over the years. Showed me a frame he's almost done in his garage that he's extended in order to lengthen to a longbed extended cab setup. He's hardcore!

We did a fun training mission with a couple of them one time. The whole battery fired about 10 rounds each (think we had 5 guns in the field that day), while a couple of A-10s were circling behind our position. Then, as base piece, we fired a smoke round, signalling the all clear. Couple minutes later those two birds came screaming over top of us and unloaded their vulcans at whatever we were shooting at! Ah, the sound!

I don't think they're press fit but I've been wrong many times before.

If they're press fit I'd just pull the COs and do it on a bench.
