So I was driving to the gas station and everything was ok until I was done gassing up. I went to go turn my truck back on and it was idling relatively high in comparison to what it usually does and the maintenance required light was flashing. Any idea what this could be?

Maintenance light is in no way linked to any systems. It's just a dummy light that comes on every 5k miles. At 4.5k miles, it'll start flashing, letting you know you're getting close to having to perform maintenance.

So that isn't related to the idling at all. Is it running fine now? I wouldn't worry about it at all if it is.

It runs fine after a couple of seconds but at first it’s like reving itself To about 2500 rpm and it stays there then drops. The car is warm so it shouldn’t be idling that high

If it were me I’d see if it persists. Maybe do some research as to what may cause that. Then go from there.

Is it possible that the floor mat got caught on the gas petal?

If it becomes a consistent issue, I would start with the following:

    - as stated above - floor mats - yeah - you don't think that's the problem - check again anyway
    - troubleshoot coolant temp sensor. many other possibilities.

Countless posts here have a pointer to the 2nd Gen Tacoma factory service manual

If it doesn’t correct itself try just unhooking the battery for a couple of minutes so it can reset.
