I like it, just soo much freakin’ money on top of what is already not a cheap truck.
(I don’t know the specs in comparison to a “normal” TRD or SR5.)

If I had the budget, I’d look into one, with an eye to also look at what costs would be to build something similar (maybe, more capable).

For it to just be an elevated air intake and not a true snorkel ( water crossings and elevated air intake) I don't feel it's worth the money

    Not a true snorkel?

    36EB8B47-580A-4273-ABF4-D1510FD7B59F.jpg

What are the other “upgrades” from the TRD packages?
    Suspension or engine differences?
    (besides the grill)

(I am also the guy who -intentionally- bought a 24 year old 2wd, with the only “upgrades” are tilt steering, a/c, & a stereo (non-working) that I replaced, plus a fiberglass tonneau (obviously not factory). It’s manual tranny, doorlocks, windows, mirrors, even steering. I’m not a big “bells, whistles, & lights” guy .... )

I might swing back by and see if I can get a refund. The chick was very vague and never could tell me why I’ve never paid it in the past. Even the receipt I got from the DMV didn’t say what the fee was for. :burnrubber:

The pro and offroad get rear locker and crawl control features if optioned as well as upgraded suspensions. Sport is mostly just aesthetics. There are no engine upgrades to any of them over any other truck optioned with a v6. Oh and you can't get the Pro in 2wd but you can get the OR and sport in 2wd.

Wait, the TRD off-road is also sold as a 2WD? WHY???

I do wish an updated S Runner/Xrunner was sold. That would interest me as much as a 4wd.

Of course, I’d probably get the most stripped 4wd (only a/c as comfort option) with functional off-road features. But, that probably is a non-existent package anymore.

They don't make a 5 lug 2wd anymore so they are set up like the 4wd as far as suspension goes having the trucks more closely related makes manufacturing cheaper and easier without as much tooling and changes.

OffRoad 2wd for the locker and suspension without the 4wd price.

Oh, & I wouldn’t want as a 2wf. That’s a different animal & a 2wd drive model would be a waste (more for “my truck is intimidating” steer posers going for fake off-roading).

    My view:
    2wd for on-road driving only & hauling.
4wd for ANY off-roading, plus hauling.

The desired aesthetic are 2 completely different things.

As is, I want my truck light, rugged (functionally), with as little old-mechanics (electrical) to break as possible. Be able to haul what I need (why got a truck instead of a 2nd Miata). Then, drive the hell out of it.

An off-road truck is a different beast, set up & driven differently.

    Is it any good offroading?
(Edit- meant the Off Road version
    2wd)

A serious question ... (I don’t know, but thought anything rougher than rutted dirt & grasses would need 4wd.)

Kinda all depends on what you do but anything with flex or steep loose climbs and you will probably end up not doing so hot.

The 8 that's stamped on them comes off with rubbing alcohol.. I took it off my old graphite ones I had and glued the Toyota emblem in its place.. looking back should have just taken the 8 off and let it be

Awesome to know! I’ve debated putting a ‘TRD’ decal on them like my last set, but I might just do the alcohol instead.
