...yeah, text messages that say if they are bugging me they will stop.

    I am curious -

I should ask them why I have a singing kazoo coming from my right door after they did a recall for seatbelts.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
This isn't necessarily a ploy. My wife got the same thing for a 17 Highlander. It was paid off, broken window, new tires needed, etc. They offered her 35k, and a 2019 nightshade edition for 39k. They just needed used Highlanders that bad.

Ive got Galaxy Yota in Eatontown Nj emailing, calling, sending texts messages for about 3 months trying to buy my 2015 back too.

I’m sure I can get almost what I paid for it back in 2017. Especially if I sold privately. But I don’t think I could ever part ways with it for a 3rd Gen. Unless someone nailed me and totaled it and their insurance covered it.

    Chances are they didn’t.

They don’t ask you to sell your truck without roping you into spending money on a new one. So the only person that makes out is the dealer.

Its not a ploy that looses them money.

Now if the dealer told me theyd pay me more than I originally paid for the truck 4 years ago ... that would be nice.

They don't want your truck as much as they want to sell you another and pad their wallet

I had a dealer here in CO try that with me. Didnt buy from them but had service done. Told them if I wanted to sell, I wanted 40K cash in non sequential 100 dollar bills. That shut them up.

I guess it depends really. Are you 100% committed to your current truck or ... are you open to a change or an upgrade? If you are truly not looking then no harm no foul -- they are just looking to drum up business. But if you are open to getting a new truck why not call them and say "put your best deal together on paper and let me take a look at it!." You are in a great position since you don't have to buy. Why not see if they are willing to make you an offer you can't refuse. You are negotiating from a position of strength.

I only say that because your initial post seems like you are open to the possibility ...

I’d be an idiot to trade in my 2010. It’s long since paid for, so it puts money in my pocket every month since I don’t have a car payment. New trucks cost money. Mine pays me :D

I got a flyer the other day. Once a year this one dealer has this scratch off game where you can win prizes. I got 3 matching money symbols that showed I won $10k cash. I knew it was too goo to be true. Read the fine print over a few times and seen it said the odds of getting my number was 1:75000 flyers. Thought for a second maybe it’s legit. Continued reading. Then it said prize shown may not be prize you will actually receive. Meaning the $5 gas card prize they give out may be mine. You have to go to the dealer and they do some type of price drawing there. I’d be willing to guess just about everyone that comes in is gonna leave with only the $5 gas card. And not any big cash prize or other gift.

Complete fucking scams. I’m glad the autogroups I worked for never had bogus advertisement/tactics like this

They want you to trade. Then they'll 'give' you a wonderful allowance for a truck you'll over pay for to compensate for the wonderful allowance.

IF they want to actually buy it, you won't be impressed with the number. If you are, it means you can privately sell it for at least 3k more. 'Cause the only reason they'd buy it is to make money, right?

Payments are an albatross. If you want to make payments, make them to yourself in a special account until you have enough to pay cash for the next ride.

The shitty part is the prizes are given out by a third party company who controls the ad. I know it was gonna be a waste of time going in. Once I realized it wasn’t the 5k gift I actually won I knew it wasn’t going to be worth 2 seconds of my time. I actually had an old co worker who now works at the dealer so I was just gonna stop in and say hi to him and see what he said about it. At first thinking I “won” 5k I thought it was going to be some type of rebate off select vehicles. It was out of a Chrysler/Jeep/ram store. Figured if maybe I could walk out with a loaded Ram for dirt cheap maybe I’d consider it. But after realizing it was all bogus and I probably have to give out a ton of info and wait 2 hours for probably a $5 gas card I just threw it out.

Knowing sometimes they have huge rebates on new trucks that’s the only thing that made me think twice about it. I know of several times through out the years the auto groups I worked for had over 10k in rebates on certain models. Over 12k once on the new Titans and for a few months straight that rebate was over 10-11k.
