And with 38k or so out... it’s all relative. For what we pay for these trucks that are ostensibly for off road use, they should all come with better than street tires...

"The move is expected to ripple through the economy and financial system, nudging down rates for credit cards, home equity lines and auto loans and theoretically sparking more economic activity."

It's going to get good now!

In California taxes are computed on the monthly payment. So if the $270 doesn’t include taxes, the final payment will be just under $300 depending on tax rate.

Where’s the proof of an economic slowdown? If there is a slowdown, I don’t see it here in the SF Bay area.

So you're saying if I put $30k down on a $45k vehicle, I only pay taxes on the $15k loan amount vs the full vehicle amount of $45k?? That would be absolutely shocking for CA, not to mention makes little sense from a finance aspect.

Just saw this. Cool, now I can save a few bucks when I refi my house soon. But it does reinforce that an economic slowdown is ahead or already here.

Correct, for a lease. In most states, you only pay sales tax on the leased portion of the vehicle. However, some states, such as Texas, impose sales tax on the selling price of the car.

Oooh, that makes sense. Haven't done a lease since I was 18, and I didn't really understand finance back then so I wasn't looking at anything except the total price.

Why do you say 'foreign car' like it's a bad thing? Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc make much more reliable vehicles than Ford and Chevy do. And the cost of maintaining them when they're paid off is a lot cheaper than making monthly payments.

No. The thread I’m replying to refers to a posters lease payment of $270. In California taxes are based on the lease payment not the vehicle cap cost. As an example $270 X .09 tax = $24.30. Total lease payment would be $294.30.

Not that I am advocating this, but...

If I pay the entire lease payment up front, do I not pay taxes since there is no monthly payment?

You can’t escape taxes. You either pay a lump some or monthly. 6 or half dozen all the same

    My hunch is that Pro buyers are waiting patiently for the 2020 model. If the price jump is around $1500 all of the upgrades will be worth the price of admission;
-A few transmission updates (the most important of which is that it prevents the truck from lurching forward on the transition from park to drive)
-New 16-inch alloy wheels that are each 4.1 pounds lighter
-Retuned Fox shocks and springs in an effort to improve the truck's ride on and off-road
-Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) and Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), both of which are standard on the Pro
-The new 8.0-inch touchscreen is now compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa.
-Standard 10-way driver's power adjustable seat, which now includes lumbar support and seat height adjustment. The seat height can be adjusted up to 2 inches (Toyota listened. FINALLY!!!)
    -A new updated grille design
-New LED and DRL headlights with sequential turn signals
-New tail light design and in bed lighting
-A new passenger smart key so the front passenger door gets keyless access.
-Army Green and MGM are new color choices
-Engineers changed some mapping and programming parameters
