Well I wasn’t driving I let my daughter since she’s the one who will be commuting there for work..

 

In all my time out there I’ve only ever seen one 2 stroke 500. Thing was unnecessary as hell lol

 

When you look at them on Ebay seems like they are all out west, Cally, Az & NM. Some of mine sold to buyers out West and 1 to Tennessee.

 

Nope. I do remember when 695 ended at Ritchie Hwy though - it was only a true "Beltway" on paper.

 

All this talk of bikes earlier made me wanna look at some old pics.

After leaving Hopkins today we missed our turn and had a wonderful tour of some of the finer neighborhoods in Bmore ..what a shit hole ,trash everywhere didn’t see any rats other then hood rats.

 

Went and looked at that 2000 3rd gen today. One owner 229k miles. Sport model 5spd manual. Black with grey interior.

It has a rot hole on the passenger side in the frame just before the rear axle.
Backing plates on the brakes are starting to rot through. Pinion seal is leaking a little.

Rear hub bearings were done. Brake internals were done not that long ago but the drums are hideous looking.

Spare wheel is swiss cheese.

Tires are dry rotted.

Needs a tail light and front turn signal.

The only thing that doesn’t work is the power antenna. But its stuck in the up position, radio works kind of crappily.

Climate controls only partially work.

Clutch/flywheel/slave and rear main seal are all original.

Body and interior are immaculate.

80% of the service records are there. Guy even gave me a key and said i could come back and look it over whenever.

It snapped an alternator belt today and is stranded in an alley downtown. So he is now motovated to sell.

Now i just have to make an offer. Any ideas or suggestions?

I've bought similar 4runners for $500-$1000.

 

I don’t want to insult the man, any idea how much i’d have in a clutch/flywheel/slave/TB and rear main seal?

I was thinking $2000 but then i saw the hole and kind of went quiet. Fortunately i have not mentioned a number out loud yet.

Thats what i’m leaning towards. But again, i don’t want to insult the man. He could not be any more polite.

It also has bad O2 sensors and has a constant check engine light. So i will throw the scanner on it and make sure thats all it is before i make an offer.

 

After i fix the lights and put tires on it. I think it would pass inspection. If not, in only a few months it would be 20 years old and i could just do historic tags

 

In most cases a rusted thru frame makes it a totaled vehicle. I wouldn't and never had payed anywhere near 2 grand for a vehicle with a rusty frame. And I've bought quit a few yotas with rusty frames over the years. When making a offer always start low, you can always go up from there. And have cash in hand.

 

I only paid $600 for this high mileage but great running & driving 2004 4x4 from the original owner's dad becauseof a little bit of rust thru on the frame. With all maintenance records from new. And 1st gen Tacomas hold their value alot better than 3rd gen 4runners.

 

@AR15xAR10 dont feel bad or think you will insult him by offering 1k or so. The truck needs a lot of work and the frame may be worst than you think. He just want to get rid of it
