I got the module. Not sure I would get it again given the fact that I never get the battery below 85% and it is almost always charged up before lunch, but it is mine now!

Thanks for the information. I think we could squeeze by for a while, as my boys are still pretty young, but this is why I am working on ideas for bunks in the bed of the truck.

 

Bunks might work for a minute but it would just be so much simpler/easier/more comfortable to buy a bigger truck with a bigger camper. A GFC on a Tacoma is definitely sized for two people.

 

You might consider using aluminum to make frames for the beds. I've used Onlinemetals.com for aluminum and their pricing is usually reasonable.

 

I think it's possible. I have a 2 and 4 year old a all 4 of us fit in a drifter with a 6 foot bed. I have some details in the Drifter thread:

We split the kids up, one goes "upstairs" with my wife; the other sleeps on the platform in the picture. I sleep on the floor with a self-inflating camp pad.

This setup would work extremely well with one kid. It's a bit more challenging with two. What I did last trip was bring along a tent. I have one of those cheap "instant" tents and it makes a nice place to throw all the stuff that is in the truck bed, setup the toilet, have room to change, etc. It goes up quicker than my awning so not a big commitment of time. Also, if the weather is nice, we can move the platform pad and inflatable pad to the tent and sleep there. It's usually cold at night where we camp so we all want to be in the camper where the heater is.

Anyway, I realize this is a GFC thread but a wedgie is a wedgie I reckon.

My understanding is it's fiberglass on top of the honeycomb roof.

I'm getting up there at 35 now.

 

As promised here are some pictures of the holes/glands and the Renogy branch connectors attached to the front extrusion to connect the two panels. Let me know if you have any questions.

Mounted using the extrusion nuts that GFC sells. Had to buy some longer screws though.

 

Not a mod or trick... But a tip.... If you can swing a trip up the Dempster... DO IT...
