Throttle position sensor 89452-35030

Do you folks have a part number for the offending throttle body? I ran several numbers through Partsouq and came up with around $545 to my door. Still enough to make one gag, but is significantly lower than domestic dealers.

There's a lot of variables to get correct in part number. 2wd,4wd cruise control. 7 differant part numbers.

 

Also I'm pretty sure the 02 and earlier don't have the APPS that the 03-04 Tacoma/01-02 4Runner TBs have. the TPS is likely "calibrated" along with the APPS but I'm not entirely sure. it's the only thing that makes sense to me.

 

Correct if the throttlebody has a 4 wire TPS it will also have a APPS (Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor)

 

This was not the case for my truck. The Yoda dealer parts department ran my vin and said 35020 was on my truck but it was not. Mine is 35030. Two different parts houses also told me 35020 fits a 2003 taco but it sure does not fit a lot of them.

 

the transition to the Electronic TB was first-second quarter of the run. they had to use up the leftover T4R TBs

 

Hi All,
i've run into the same problem and found 3 threads on this, but seems this thread is the latest and greatest post. Was there any resolve to this? my local yoda dealer say $1187.00 for the sensor and throttlebody. the other options were bone yards andto pull out the sensor and put it back on... i guess this is to reset the calibration or something. Also i believe from other threads that the 89452-30150 from the Lexus was a no go, but what was the out come from the 89452-22080? i think this was from the Tundra/camry or something. sorry i posted this in the group buys section under that thread as well.Thanks in advance.

 

I know this is a bit of an older thread, but I thought I could offer some clarification.

1995-1996 Tacoma V6's use a conventional throttle body with IAC and 4-wire TPS
1997-2002 Tacoma V6's and 2003-2004 Tacoma V6 2WD M/T's use a conventional throttle body with IAC and a 3-wire TPS.
2003-2004 Tacoma V6 excluding 2WD M/T's use an ETCS-i drive-by-wire throttle body without IAC and a 4-wire TPS.
1995-2004 Tacoma L4's use a conventional throttle body with IAC and a 3- or 4-wire TPS (depending on year and options).

The DBW 4-wire and the conventional 3- or 4-wire sensors are not compatible or interchangeable.

The 3-wire sensors have a single potentiometer, the conventional 4-wire sensors have a single potentiometer and an idle switch. The DBW 4- and 6-wire sensors use dual potentiometers that sweep at different resistance/voltage ranges (0-4V for one and 2-5V for the other) to allow the ECU to determine plausibility and to cut throttle control if the sensors don't agree.

Generally speaking, Toyota does not sell any of their pedal position or throttle position sensors separately from the throttle body or throttle pedals with some rare exceptions (early ETCS-i sensors are available for some 2JZ models for example). This is because of the additional safety concerns related to electronic throttle control. That said, if you can find a supplier that sells the sensor, it can certainly be replaced and adjusted/calibrated.

$68 89452-35020 Throttle Position Sensor

89452-35020 is a 3-wire conventional TPS.
89452-35030 is a 4-wire DBW TPS (not sold separately by Toyota).
89452-22080 is a 4-wire conventional TPS with idle switch.

89452-30140 and 30150 are both ETCS-i TPS's that are electronically correct, however they both rotate in the incorrect direction.

While the conventional non-ETC throttle bodies are quite numerous, the DBW ETCS-i 5VZ-FE throttle bodies are all the same, 22030-62020.

Yep. What he said. I just didn't want to type out everything. The fact is. Were screwed unless an aftermarket company starts rebuilding them. Or a supplier for the tps comes around.

 

thanks, that is a lot of good technical info! i found 89452-35030 at toyotapartsdeal.com back in March/april and they were selling the whole T.B. and TPS for $675(about), (dealer wanted about $1187)but i just checked now and didnt see it! i might have search wrong or it may no longer be available. i believe i may have temporarily cured my problem, back in april, after reading up more on what people did. i did this:
1)pulled the + battery terminal off the battery overnight (10 + hrs). some people say only about 20-30 min. is needed to reset, but my overnighter worked better to reset everything.
2) pulled off the TPS, phsyically semi rotated (in both directions)the arm plate with tabs(forgot the name of that component) oh so ever gently, then postioned it back onto the T.B.(make sure you note the tabs position where it lines up into the T.B.)
3) reconnected the battery terminal, started it up, and then began to fiddle with adjusting the TPS, i found slightly moving it to give a good RPM idle a little difficult so i ended up with an initial idle RPM of 1250 RPMs(i know thats way too high), i aslo found out the computer was trying to compensate for a normal idle(RPMs were flucuating), over the next few days i worked the idle down to about 800 RPMs(yes the CEL came on and pooped the code for irratic/overclocked idle), once it was down to 800 the light did go off and everything performed very good, no lagging, no eratic behavior.
4) so now its almost august and i noticed about a month ago the idle migrated down to about 580-620ish rpm for idle(it does have a slight rough idle, from probably being so low). upon deceleration while driving, the rpms will drop down to about 600( instead of keeping a temporary rpm of about 1000) upon re-aceleration this would cause a very slight surge or gap(very slight lagtime)
5) but since i did what i did, its a whole lot better than before and is probably going to get worse again but thats it! if you can understand my instructions without your eyes glazing over this may be an option for you. thanks!

 

I order parts from toyotapartsdeal.com and I'm familiar with the Throttle Body you are referring to. This is what appears for 2003 3.4 when I key in the VIN #

 

If anyone is having difficulty finding this part, I just ordered one from Parts Geek. It is manufactured by Aisin, who makes the part for Toyota. It came today and is even stamped with the Toyota part number 89452-35030. It has 4 pins.

Welcome to Tacoma World. That was a pretty grand entrance for post #1.

 

Been pretty darn frustrated with this issue and lurking here for a while. Was happy to find one made by Aisin. Now I Need to install and figure out how to position it correctly.

Do you have a scan tool to see were it's at now?
