I just removed the rear hood seal. Took 3 seconds, thanks.
I already use a good quality sunshade 100% when parked.

My complaints really don't start until it is over 110 outside and I have to park outside...for example, leaving my garage to go to the store is OK, but then after the truck sits in the sun a while and I leave the store it takes forever to cool down if at all. That is where shit gets awful. Running errands in the taco is horrible. I didn't really realize this until we got a camry with tint for the wife. That AC is awesome.

I'm curious. If that seal is removed, doesn't the engine heat get pulled directly into the cabin air intake? I know it wouldn't if the AC is on recirc, but if on fresh air it would increase the cooling load.

My taco is my daily. It came from the factory with some 35-50% tint in the back windows. The front windows were not tinted and cannot be due to stupid California laws. It spends at least 5 hours in the beating northern California sun until I hop into it. I was amazed in the dramatic decrease in interior temperatures the moment I installed the truck specific sunshade and ran the AC. The AC temp was amazingly cold for a really long time. I was able to nap comfortably during my hour off work. By the time I woke up I noticed a small increase in interior cabin temp but it was already leaps and bounds over what I was previously experiencing.

Well yes it does, but it is better to provide the engine bay another airflow exit passage over allowing hotter air into the cowl. It's a small drawback with a substantial payoff in interior temperature changes.

In the summer I only run on recirculate. Fresh air is nice and preferred, but when it is over 100 doesn't cut it at all. It is so easy to remove and replace the seal, I'm thinking I will remove it every May, and put it back every October.

Drive it in AZ from June-September .
Mine is great until the temps are over 110. Then it's like a shit switch is flipped. Humidity doesn't count, AC removes humidity. After a few weeks it gets old

I might have to do a test with a thermometer in the vent.
I have a different truck that the seal is missing. Gets cold on recirc, not so much on fresh air, sitting at idle. going at speed works fine. One of these days I will make a seal and check it out. One of these days.

Why are you getting rid of it, it seems you have been down this road with a supercharged set up, I'm curious where you are going next

I’m going with one fan. Two covered the entire front end and I had too much blocking the natural air flow

I just put a new condenser in. Recharging soon. Praying I have temps under 50 lol

Otherwise I’m gonna have to do that resister if it isn’t too difficult

I'm wondering if I can place this fan on the centerline. It is pretty thin, will see.

The centerline? It’s the thinnest fan available. It fits behind my OEM trans cooler

    Just got my Tacoma.

comparing to my 2015 Hyundai I got rid of, I think the window tint makes a big difference.

on Max I get cold quick.. even when I lower to 3 it keeps me cold so eventually I lower to 2 and use that for my ride home about halfway from work. (40 minute drive)

recently did a 3 hour trip.. about an hour in and on I had the AC at 1. This is all in California, 90+ degree heat.

    verdict: does not suck.

This is not a good statement. Well it is, but based upon the topic, the original post implies that the truck has been sitting in the slamming heat and you are going to sit in it, then turn the AC on to cool you off while never moving the truck.

Moving, my truck freezes my tookus off, but at a standstill I was having major issues with cooling me down.

Human beings were never meant to live in a climate with 110 plus heat. The a/c is fine, the area is bad. Just move. :p

Oh I see. If I notice any issues I’ll post it here. As far as I can tell, my AC does well. If it’s that big of a deal, drive it around and cool it off, then park and recycle cold air.

Vacuumed and recharged my ac yesterday and it’s blowing 41*. I am VERY happy about this as 50-60 used to be the normal.

Yeah but the thing is that only lasts for so long until the air gets warmer again. Even if on recycle mode.

I have not taken readings of the vents but by experience I can easily say this thing dropped into the usual 41-44*F range just by opening up the underhood, raising the operating idle to 600 and using my windshield heatshield even on the hottest of days.
