JBA UCA 2016 Tacoma

Good afternoon everyone! This is my second post ever here I want to thank everyone for the welcome messages. This post is about my new JBA upper control arms that I recently installed. There is a huge difference in down travel (it is hard to notice in the picture but in person you can tell left is oem control arm and right is the jba). I think it’s great that the control arm doesn’t hit the shock anymore at full articulation. The ball joint has a crazy amount of articulation I honestly couldn’t believe it! I will post some pictures of the UCA tonight and tomorrow I will try to go wheeling and get some good pictures there too! Feel free to ask me any questions about the upper control arms. I know when it came to picking these there was some lack of information and pictures about them so I’d like to help a future buyer or just an interested person. Thank you!

 

Nice job! I used to have JBA but my tire kept rubbing on them at full lock. Glad they worked out for you though!

 

Love my JBAs. Had my taco on some knarly trails with them. I took the sway bar out. With JBAs bilstein extended length travel from headstrong and OME Dakar’s the flex is amazing

@BroID they have extended travel bilsteins? that sounds like an affordable option when compared to the icon or king extended travel coilovers. would you mind giving me a part number or link? I've been looking at some options lately with the hopes of buying soon, thank you!

 

I just got my jba’s installed and aligned. Now I have a crazy amount of rubbing on the cab mount. Did you run into this?

 

Who did the alignment? First shop I had do my alignment did a poor job. Second shop set it perfectly the way JBA spells it out to them

 

Local body shop did the alignment (best one in the area, but not an off-road shop). Don’t have any off-road shops around that I know of.

 

Most of the time after an alignment they will hand you a before and after paper. Do you have that?

 

Didn’t get a spec sheet, just said the got it to factory tow and camber and 3 degrees caster (as advised by jba).

 

Willing to bet they didn’t get 3. I’m running 4 on my 2015 no problems. But if they did get 3, you might need between 3-4 * caster to remedy issue.

 

So I’m not very informed when it comes to alignments. Does positive caster move the tire forward in the wheel well or towards the rear?

 

Positive caster will move the top the back and the bottom forward. Imagine a straight line thru the tire vertically(that would be zero) each degree positive moves the top of the line behind that line and the bottom in front with the hub being the center of rotation.

 

I contacted JBA and the owner said he had to do the cmc on his truck to get the clearance. I didn’t have any rub on stock uca, but it seems the location of the ballpoint on these arms is more to the rear. Makes sense now that they are “high caster”.

 

The jba’s uca’s I have them also. They have 2* positive caster built in. So getting 3-4 should be zero issue. The main issue is the front body mount on the gen 3 sits more forward than on gen 2 i believe. I’m running 285/70/17 with 3” of lift and no rubbing issue on the body mount.

 

Get you caster set higher, the shop probably put it way to low
