rebuilding engine

what do you guys think is it wirth trying or what i want to put this with a tranny in my buddies suzuki sami but i wonder what we will be getting into i love the toyota engine so it may be worth it

 

Go for it man! Sounds like a fun project.

 

is it a replacement for the same engine or is it gonna be a complete swap. i just went through this with my truck since i was unlucky enough to blow mine up. if its a replacement, definately go for it. if its a swap, do as much research as you can before you start. you'll need the computer, wiring harness, accessories, exhaust, mounts, adaptors for the tranny. if its going into a suzuki, are you going to use the original tranny and rear end? what size engine are you replacing in the suzuki. the drive train might not withstand the abuse of a bigger engine. i was trying to swap my 3rz for a chevy 305 but decided against it because of cost and time. don't get me wrong, the project sounds fun as hell, but make sure you've got everything covered so nothing comes up and surprises you.

I would not do it.. Unless..

1. you can get the wiring harness and CPU
2. are ok with a full rebuilt.
3. have you done this before?

Or if you hav ea car with this motor now and are just placing it have fun..
But it will need a full gasket kit and a tube of RTV to reseal it up and a T-belt and water pump.

 

true, theres no better way to become truly intimate with the workings of an engine than tearing down and rebuilding. now for 100 bucks. i would most definately buy it. but don't get ahead of yourself with thoughts of throwing it in a truck an vroom vroom. i'd take that engine and tear it down, new bearings, new piston rings, new valves, cams, headers, injectors. definately tune that mother out. take your time, get a nice tranny to hook up to it and a nice set of diffs and THEN through it under that sami. i can't imagine what that little monster would be like with a tuned 3vz and danas under it, haha.
